Have you seen Prison School? It's very self-aware, it knows what it's doing and it knows that it's screwed up, but it embraces that. I may upset people by saying this, but tonally I don't think it's that much different from more American comedies like Workaholics or American Pie, it just takes it's jokes far further than any of those ever could. |

I'm especially surprised at the relatively high ranking for Ranpo Kitan. Most noitaminA shows barely make an impression on the usual Japanese fanbase. Was it the tie to Edogawa Ranpo's works? The constant hints of male homosexuality? I didn't get past about episode five.
My favorite show of the summer was Gatchaman Crowds Insight, one of the most politically-astute series I've watched in some time, though it fizzled out a bit at the end. At least Shirayuki-hime got some love. I'd like to see more of Rokka no Yuusha, but the anime did little to increase sales of the original material: Light novel sales from MAL 6/22-28 - not listed; (27th ranked work sold 5,375) 7/20-26 - Volume 6: 7,240 (20th) 7/27-8/2 - Volume 6: 5,048 (24th) 8/17-23 - not listed; (33rd ranked work sold 3,809) The first anime episode aired 7/5. Novel sales got some boost from the anime, but it was short-lived. Disc sales for Rokka no Yuusha are absymal. The first Blu-ray release sold less than 600 copies. |

Well, I am happy for Ushio & Tora, even if I think that Actually, I am could've done better (I read there were just 300 copies sold of their first DVD ).
I think Charlotte "deflated" a lot from what it promised at the beginning of the season. Classroom Crisis could've received a lot more of love, but in the end it had nothing to stand out (story, characters, action)... What I don't get is Red-haired Snowhite... but, eh, to each its own. |

I said I utter despise it whenever it starts to take over the story. And for an anime to be great it doesn't need fanservice or rather it should not be relied on as much as it is. If creators rely on fanservice too much the story would get less attention and would act as a excuse to advertise and sell character designs rather than relaying the actual moral to the viewer. Shows were originally based on stories which tells you what you need to hear and as a good example of how one should live but now days it's all about what the average person wants see. The point is that fanservice lacks originality. |

I thought that was pretty strange as well. From what I've gathered it was not a financial success either, so yet another odd appearance on this list.
I've become an increasingly bigger fan of Crowds as the last season was airing. It's pretty disappointing that it also hasn't sold better. |

Quite frankly, for me, the best anime was a toss up between School-Live! and Gatchaman Crowds insight (once more, thank you Nick for your Top Anime list.
With that said, think Summer was a great season. |

I honestly dislike these kind of shows as well, but in this case, I liked it. It was different, it was dark, it was raunchy, it was FUNNY. I loved it, and I think it deserves the praise. |

Shimoneta > DRRR
Yeah I'm going to disregard this list due to this horrible taste. |

I haven't actually seen Prison School, but I guess she must have been pretty hot if she was sweating that much. |

That much heat...I guess it really is a sadistic cruel prison. Wait is that a school! Then the heat there can't be worse than my school/university/??? |

As a matter of fact, she was always hot. Seriously, it's hard to think of scene where she wasn't sweating excessively. Other than her actual temperature though, she was in no way sexually "hot" in my opinion... yet, I love this show. Because it isn't about the fan-service. If anything it is a parody on typical fan-service. |

Although it was a parody on fan service, the fans did not really take the message but treated it as they do any other fan serviced show, so it's no wonder that people would get the impression that it is like any other fan serviced series which lead fans of those kinds of anime to watch it and those opposed to fanservice to avoid it. |

Hmm. Maybe I am just missing that whole part of the community, because I really haven't seen the people who think it's actually sexy. Honestly, I thought Shirohae was just trolling because of how absurd that comment was, but then seeing some of the responses was kind of disheartening. Way to miss the entire point of the show guys, and maybe try to take life a little less seriously. |
