I listened to the twitter questions part only because I was hoping my question about why they get exclusive streaming rights for the entire American continent when they have no means of making those streams available to Latin America -thus depriving Latam fans from being able to watch a lot of shows legally by making it impossible for CR to get those streams-. Was disappointed that it didn't get answered.

So Dragon Ball Super's not even licensed? What the hell's going on at Toei?
This podcast was kind of a waste of time. Nobody really answered any questions, just a bunch of "We don't know" or "We can't talk about it". I know they're just doing their job, but I feel like Lance Heiskell handled this stuff a lot better. |

Regarding the Dimension W being partially by funded Funi as part of the production committee, ADV did a similar thing in helping fund Fullmetal Panic.

That's a little unfair. I'd say it was at most about 60% "we can't answer", 30% "we can give a little news", and 10% "We can announce". |

If you mean Funimation's website, it is simple www.funimation.com You will have to try it to see if it works. If it does you can watch delayed for free (with commercials). Subscription gets you immediate access, dubbed episodes and is commercial free. |

In terms of marketing to nerd culture in general, but outside of self-identified anime fans, a nice example might be what's been going on at The Mary Sue over the last year or so, where they've explicitly sought out more anime writers, and are now regularly putting out articles on Psycho-Pass, Yurikuma Arashi, etc., to say nothing of the seemingly endless recaps of the original Sailor Moon. Since TMS initiated those changes, they're clearly open to mixing some anime into their entertainment mix.

Something I'd be interested in knowing is if Funimation will put out physical releases of new shows that they don't simulcast. (Another way of wording this is: Will Funimation ever pick up shows that Crunchyroll ran, or is Funimation only focusing on what they get the rights to right off the bat?)
I hope Death Parade gets a nice Limited Edition release. That one seemed to do pretty well during its simulcast season. Then again, it was up against Assassination Classroom and other super popular shows, so there's no telling how well it actually did. On that note, I wonder if they have a certain amount of Limited Edition shows they plan to do each year, or if that number will fluctuate with the overall increase/decrease of viewership on their site. |

Justin's comment that event-style theatrical screenings of anime turn into mini-conventions echoes something my friend @ActionZero said when we met up in Kalamazoo for the Love Live! movie and there were a bunch of cosplayers in the crowd, along with other miscellaneous anime attire like Survey Corps jackets and Kill La Kill tshirts and what-have-you. These screenings are like a Bat-signal for weeaboos, they're great.

They have had Tatami Galaxy for almost 5.5 years and yet they still can't say for certainty whether or not they will release it on DVD/BD. While I didn't even get past the 2nd episode, I can see its fans wanting to know what the status is.
I think that they should have a right to know about it getting a DVD/BD release here. To a lesser extent, I think that they have a right to know a little about what whatever happened to their Nico Nico partnership or that ADV lawsuit. |

They don't have the home video rights. They had the streaming rights years ago and those lapsed shortly afterward. They have said, in no uncertain terms, "no" and "we don't have the license anymore", on this show and elsewhere. |

Not a whole lot, I am guessing, but yeah... that is still surprising that Funi wasn't first in the line considering how important the franchise is to the company. I wonder if Toei is holding it back to shop the title around for a bit... it would not shock me if they planned on doing that. |
