I've been frequently checking Amazon on news of the blu-ray release date. They are taking pre-orders, but it's just peace of mind to know when the movie will be released on video. I was among those that first saw the premier in NY last February.

They'd make a lot more if they put it in more than 6 theaters.

@Takasugi77 I got the Japanese Blu-ray a while ago and it has English subtitles.
Though in this case I assume you're waiting for the dub? And of course the edition released in the West would most likely be cheaper as well.
Most of Ghibli's domestic releases do have subtitles, so in that respect it's easy for us in the West. I haven't touched the disc as I already watched a rip of it, and can revisit that anytime, so the BD itself is simply for collection purposes...

I'd definitely watch it again in theaters, preferably with the Japanese audio but dub would probably be okay as well.

I was referring to the Region 1 release of the video. I watched the movie twice in theaters; both in Japanese with subtitles. I want the video to add to my Ghibli library at home. I'd assume it would include bonus features as well.

If you're worried about region restrictions, the Japanese BluRay is region-free, besides both Japan and US are region 1.

It was playing in like 5 diff theatres in the greater LA area; most of those were dub... or else dub in the day, subs at night so families could see it dubbed.

It played in Pasadena with subtitles. I guess it depends on the theatre.

:/ dub and sub ..
what's the reason for doing this ?
so they can please both crowds ? sub and dub?
if we are paying $9 per ticket for a movie.. i guess dub is expected..

I understand, but when available, I prefer the North American version of videos I own. Not to mention the foreign versions of the video are pretty high priced when compared to the typical domestic versions. Amazon does have it listed for about $25 on a pre-order.
