Actually, it was already announced that the movie will be released dubbed in Mexico.

First Spain, now Mexico. I could see this show having potential in the Hispanosphere. It's a shame it didn't really take off in the US, despite Funimation's attempts to tailor the dub to the Family Guy demo.

The first anime i ever saw was shin-chan, i used to watch it with all my family. (Im mexican).

I'm mildly amused that the reception has been mostly positive. I suppose even if the movie bases itself on weird stereotypes, it's going over-the-top with them, like with luchadors and salsa dancers roaming the streets and people wearing sombreros and serapes and such.

Kind of like the overwhelmingly positive Canadian reception to South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut.

I feel overall meh about this whole thing, I guess it's kind of funny they're making such a big deal out of it, but I don't really care about Shin-chan. I do, however, wish media stopped perpetuating the idea that Mexico is all a [expletive] desert. I'm okay with stereotypes for the sake of humor, but I really wish someone out there made an actual attempt at portraying Mexico in mainstream media that isn't just "what 'Murrica thinks is Mexico".

Also, that comment from that kid about "I'm excited because it's the place where I live" is so utter bullshit. As far as one can tell from the trailers, the fictional Mexican town is set in archetypical desert, full of cacti and sombreros and shit. Mexico City (where the Liceo Japonés is located) has virtually nothing in common with such setting, I can't imagine how these kids could feel in any way represented by it.

The portrayal of Canadians in South Park was so ridiculous I'm not surprised that it wasn't any sort of barrier; I'm pretty sure that the portrayal of the US was more relevant.

As for Shin-chan, Funimation isn't going to touch it again; if the immigrant crowd wanted it, they'd want the Mexican dub, not Funi's butchered-beyond-recognition version. It'd be imported by the usual stores that sell things from Mexico instead.

Surprised I'm amazed that the Mexicans are going along with the latest "Crayon Shin-chan" movie. Even more surprising,that they sent Shin-chan to Mexico to boot! I'll tell you this. If an American company made a film along the same lines as the "Shin-chan" movie,there'd be protests all over Mexico and in Mexican communities in the U.S. as well. I'm surprised that leafy sea dragon used "South Park:Bigger,Louder,and Uncut" as an example. I'm surprised that the Canadians weren't protesting that picture as well.
I doubt that the "Crayon Shin-Chan" movie will be coming up here as well. But,that's what I said about a "Saint Seiya" video game as well and it came here,so I wouldn't be surprised if the illegal immigrant community here tried to get Funimation to bring to this country. You never can tell. Besides,the man-eating cacti thing sound pretty darn novel to me.

I doubt that. I can't speak for the communities in the US, and it depends on the tone of the movie, but people wouldn't really get upset back here. We just don't get as easily offended as the americans. For example, take the recent The Book of Life. I've heard that some americans got offended that it was racist, but everyone here loved the movie! Even Speedy Gonzales is still described as a terrible racist stereotype, but I've yet to meet someone who hates him.
People just need to differentiate between actual racism and just having some fun.
