The day that happens will be a happy one.
The day that this happens, though, is NOT so much of a happy one. Sure, HOTD isn't really an appropriate anime, considering all of the zombies and ecchi it has, but geez....

Somehow I suspect it is less about filtering out "inappropriate" shows and more about an excuse to further restrict access to foreign media.

While I do not approve of censorship like this, at least they didn't blindly pick out even the lightest-qualifying material. Good job…I guess… (Wouldn't qualify HOTD as "borderline porn", but the fanservice was indeed crazy and from an outsider's eye, I'd probably say the same. I suppose China will be banning most U.S. premium channel shows, in that regard…).
My only concern is that news and details like this does not help anime's image, even if shows like HOTD and BLOOD-C were still outstanding. TiR is a little more ironic, given how un-terrorist the show truly was, but by their criteria, it makes sense…

Oh, no doubt. PRC's Communist Party wants to increase its grip on all social-related stuff - even online - as much as possible. In its own way, it's an amazing feat, I guess.

Since it's China I'm going to assume there's going to be many people associated with these websites that will never be seen again. Communism must be destroyed!

Considering the author's only managed to write one new chapter of the manga in the last four years, that's not going to happen. Right now there's not enough material for a second season, even if the current arc wasn't half finished.
In any case, I suspect the right wing content of the series (even if the anime toned it way down) was as much a factor in China's decision as the T&A stuff.

There comes a point where going with an anime original ending seems reasonable.
They have 12 unused chapters, vs. the 17 used for the original series, so they would have enough for 9 episodes with the same pacing. Given that, they might even be able to add a bit of filler and just do a 10 episode series.

For morality/puritanic driven laws I guess I can understand the overabundance of fanservice plus violence in High School of the Dead and violence in Blood-C... but to put Terror in Resonance in the list makes it plenty clear the political reasoning behind it.

I've thought that about so many different shows. But I suppose it's hard to know when/if more content will be written, so it is easier to just leave things hanging and hope to get another season.

I sort of see where their going with this, but I can't help but feel they're overreacting a bit.

I actually doubt this. At least to an extent. I mean, sure, China hasn't really been keen on embracing foreign media at large, but they do at least recognize that anime and manga is an extremely popular media with Chinese citizens, and one that can be profited from with the "proper" regulation. That, coupled with China's fairly extreme conservatism, means that they're gonna wantonly ban anything that could be seen as "deviant" regardless of its overall worth. But to put bans and restrictions on ALL anime or foreign media imports? Hah, no.
Honestly, domestic media faces the exact same content restrictions - that's why you don't see any really edgy shows come out of (mainland) China.
