I guess that this is going to be unique. A sake connoisseur? How different is that.

It always sounded like Asian bar culture is really different from western bar culture anyway. I don't know how much of a social place bars are in Japan though. Sometimes, they're depicted as a place for people to sing karaoke together, and sometimes, they're depicted as places for people to quietly sit down after work.

"Sake" in this case just means alcohol in general.

The shtick of this manga is that unlike most people who go to bars in groups, she has made a hobby out of eating and drinking alone and going to different places every time. Which is not something most people do.

It kind of sounds like the type of series for people who are alcoholics.

Or fans of alcoholic drinks, like locally brewed beer and such.

Good to know that bars are a social place in Japan too though. I often see it depicted as a place where depressed salarymen go right after work, take a sit, have a drink, reflect for an hour or so, maybe chat with the bartender for a minute, and be on their way.
