I'm quite partial to Shojo S, if only for the Rukia/Orihime dance
To me Asterisk is the one that always captured Bleach's atmosphere exactly. Especially for those early episodes. Also the Ranbu no Melody opening was not only a great song, but the art really seemed to match Kubo's style even more than the others did. And it's just cool as hell. |

In regards to the Bebop poll: People LIKE Toys in the Attic!? Maybe that serves to further why I'm not a huge Bebop nut, I can't stand that episode.
I'd have to think about ranking the Bleach songs though, that must have been a hefty task for Hope having OPs AND EDs narrowed together. |

For the most part I'm fine with the list, but I would have left the movie song out. It's not a bad song, but when it comes to an anime OP or ED for me it has to be something I enjoyed hearing week after week for 20-something episodes. A movie song wouldn't make my list, though it might make an honorable mention.
Then we got to the number 3 song, BLUE, easily my 16th favorite Bleach OP if you know what I mean. The vocals, the lyrics, the pace, the beat, the whole thing. And then when the number one song wasn't Rolling Star I was pretty disappointed. Listening to Hope's comments I'll assume that the song isn't "Bleach enough" being so vocal driven with very little instrumental backup like most YUI songs. Also noticed that most of the songs with female vocals didn't make the list so that was probably another strike. Thing is, Bleach may have gotten its name from a Nirvana album, but its sound is very eclectic, even Ichigo's own theme song, Number One by Hazel Fernandes, is a very bluesy American style soul song. The entire sound track for this series from start to finish is all over the place, I don't think it's really possible to truly pin down a sound for Bleach. Emerje |

People like Toys in the Attic so much they included a reference to it in Space Dandy. Are you sure you're not thinking of Pierrot le Fou, which was the unspeakable episode we ... well, we don't speak about? |

I knew going in that this was probably going to be the most divisive list, because I was basing it almost purely on the music, tastes in j-pop/j-rock get so noodly and subjective compared to OST stuff, and I knew there were a couple fan favorites (like the SID song and Ichirin no Hana) that I wasn't much a fan of personally, so I'm just glad that the list wasn't too unpalatable and people still enjoyed it.
Side note: I am also not a fan of Toys in the Attic! We are the outliers on that one, always been a very popular episode. ^^; |

Fantastic list, it gave me a lot of nostalgia and reminded me what I used to love so much about Bleach. Disappointed by the lack of "Song for", the lyrics and the music were beautiful and perfectly fit to the part of the series it covered (mostly spoiler[Ichigo's and Rukia's goodbye]). I'll join the crowd that simply adores Ranbu no Melody, the visuals are so stylish and the song is so passionate and ingrained with the same melancholy as Song for, befitting the bittersweet end of the Arrancar Arc.
Actually, most of the songs in the list wouldn't be part of my top ten (but then again, I probably voted for half of the options in the poll). When it comes to Bleach music, I've loved each and every single OP and ED (except Gallop, the vocals are horrible), so it would be extremely hard for me to choose my favorites. I also hope the final arc gets animated eventually (in spite of how much I dislike where it's going right now) because there are lots of fights there that just beg to be animated Last edited by CrowLia on Wed Mar 18, 2015 4:19 am; edited 2 times in total |

Say whaaat? This is all so alien to me. I thought Pierrot le Fou is another one of the solid Bebop episodes to me frankly.
I know a few people personally besides myself who have seen Bebop, but I guess we never really brought up the ups and downs for each episode too much. Regardless, this still feels like a total revelation to me that it's held so fondly. It's probably the weakest one in my book. I think Boogie Woogie Feng Shui has a nudge above it because while the execution was quite sloppy, it still deals with ideas of determinism and fate which gels with most of the core themes of the series I find despite it seeming like that's the one everyone hates. |

I had to go with Ranbu no Melody, the quality of that opening was too awesome ! what i'm gonna say next may contain spoilers for those who haven't watched bleach.
if you pause at 0:20 of the opening, you'll see Aizen going out of a shell that is his old body (just like when a worm becomes a butterfly ((i don't know the name of this action))) and then they show you the city empty but still breaking and falling apart (which is from the normal citizens eyes, who can't sense riatsu or see what's happening), and when they focused on Gin they keep flashing pictures of his past with Matsumoto. But the best part is at the end when they show you main parts of Ichigo's past going backwards while he is lying on the floor as a silhouette (as if his whole life is flashing before him when he was training for the final Getsuga Tensho) |

It came in 3rd in the poll, so somebody must be speaking about it. And I'd be one of them. It's among my top 5 favorite episodes. There are only a handful of Bleach songs that ever really resonated with me, but Gintama, on the other hand, has the best library of OP/ED songs of long-running series, bar none. It's easier to tally the ones I don't like. I'd be hard-pressed to create a Top Ten list for Gintama, but I'd be delighted if Hope would give it a go. |

Ah yeah, I remember Ichirin no Hana, it's just I'm personally not into metalcore or whatever this genre called. As for Asian Kung-Fu Generation, their song didn't stuck in my head, surprisingly enough since they're pretty much my favorite japanese band after DOES and Rewrite is my favorite japanese song. |

Well Hope, your taste always surprised me, not because of the obvious #1, but more due to the fact #9 is usually regarded as a wildly hated song, despite the fact I like it. Anyway, since I like Bleach and did watch ALMOST all episodes, because you know, FILLER, I will do my top 10 OPs AND EDs separately. If you want to read, great.
I'll do endings first, just cause I work that way: 1. "Mask" by Aqua Timez Ironically the only Aqua Timez to not be mentioned in the set-list video, and in my opinion the best. This is also the FINAL Bleach ED, so it's almost appropriate to have it ranked so high. It just has a great sense of finality to it, and the images of Ichigo being lost and his friends sending him the picture with the rainbow, it's a very nice touch. 2. "Song For..." by ROOKIEZ is PUNK'D If Mask wouldn't be the final ending, then this one should've been. Coming right at the end of the Aizen war (which again, lasted since episode 110... this song debuted at THE 300's). I think more than anything the violin intro and outro really sell the song. 3. "Stay Beautiful" by DIGGY-MO Out of all the Bleachy-attitude songs, this is my favorite by far. I loved Diggy's work before, so it was no wonder why I love it. Catchy beat, great lyrics and cool animation to accompany it. Really washes off the taste of the bland OP that aired alongside with it. 4. "Tane wo Maku hibi" by Kousoku Atari I feel so mellow and calm when I listen to this song. Kousuke Atari has a beautiful voice, and he really carries himself with this song. It's nice contrast to the high octane Arrancar arc. 5. "happypeople" by Skoop on Somebody I know this song is wildly hated by many, but I don't care. I love it. It's fun, it's ENGRISH, it's just delightful. 6. "Baby It's You!" by JUNE Yeah, I know it's a bit Boy-Bandy, but I like the tune itself, especially the way it starts it, and how JUNE is able to hit those high notes at the end of the second chorus. 7. "THANK YOU" by HOME MADE KAZOKU The debut of HMK, and shockingly they are still around. Ironically I like the 1 minute cut of this song, it was brisk but I always wanted to listen to the full version after I heard it. It was one of the cases it worked (unlike, say, the very first ending). 8. "Aoi Tori" by fumika Probably one of the most underrated Bleach endings. fumika has such a strong voice, and she carries this song in a wonderful way. 9. "My Pace" by SunSet Swish I would've probably ranked it higher had the chorus was at the same level of the rest of the song. 10. "LAST MOMENT" by SPYAIR I think Hope hit all the points I can hit on with that one. And for the WORST OP: Daidai Dear lord. I have no idea why the lead of chatmonchy changes her tone every single syllable of this song, especially the mediocre chorus. Daidai is one of the songs I wish would just DieDie. Now for Openings. This will be rough. 1. "After Dark" by Asian Kung Fu Generation I was never a fan of theirs before, but I think they hit the gold mine with this song, mostly because the full version isn't stretched out and filler-fied. The animation did suck for it, having stills and little movement, especially when the chorus hits, but the song itself is more than amazing. And hey, at least it wasn't in a filler arc, unlike: 2. "Anima Rossa" by Porno Graffitti I might be in a minority for liking this song, but I think it's one of PG's best, even more than the beloved Koyoi Tsuki Ga... That first guitar riff, the energetic lyrics, and the chu-chu-churu at the end of it makes it one of my all time favorites. 3. "Ranbu no Melody" by SID This song is remarkable for having a shift in tone. It starts ominously, the verse itself is rather optimistic in tone, and then it shifts to a much darker electric guitars. Out of the two V-Kei ops, this is my favorites. 4. "ALONES" by Aqua Timez I think everyone love this one solely for Kon's "Ureta, awai tsubasa" and the rest is history. 5. "~Asterisk" by ORANGE RANGE This OP by now is iconic. The rhythm, the editing, the song. Everything about it makes it a classic. 6. "HARUKAZE" by SCANDAL I am kind of shocked I am putting this one up so high, but then again, the more I listen to this song, the more I like it. It doesn't fit Bleach one bit, but as a song, I always get a warm feeling, especially when the intro plays. 7. "Ichirin no Hana" by HIGH and Mighty Color This song is special for being played at the finale of the best arc in the show, and for having a rather metal feel to it, especially towards the end. I wish the band was still around. 8. "BLUE" by ViViD This is one of the cases where the TV version is vastly superior to the full version, and while I like the song, it's not one of my favorites as it used to be. It's sad to see the band break up, but I still think their best song, was yet to come. 9. "VELONICA" by Aqua Timez The creepy intro, the rapping part... it's a good song. And you know why. 10. "Shoujo S" by SCANDAL Again, it doesn't fit Bleach but it has a lot of energy, moreso than their other song "HARUKAZE". I think that the latter is more fully realized as a song, but Shoujo S is pretty cool, especially the chorus. D-technolife, for those who wonder, would've been my #11. WORST OP: chAnge. Miwa is popular right now, kind of like YUI (which I don't like too much either), but I just don't understand the choice here. Her voice isn't suited for something high rocking like Bleach. Her placement in something like Silver Spoon makes more sense. chAnge is very forgettable as a song, which is why it's my least favorite. |

I liked Ichigo's theme more than the OP and ED. It hyped you up and you knew he'd do something awesome.
spoiler[Apart from the time where Ulquiorra no-sold it and shut his theme down, of course] |
