I personally like Date Time, so good for it.
But no Katanagatari songs? This is a sin. And there were no votes for the songs of the original Katanagatari broadcast, only the rerun. |

I'm actually appalled that neither of the Kuragehime songs got on. why does everyone gotta have bad taste.

I preferred the endings over the openings myself. The insert songs for the series were very good as well. This is still a very strong track list though. |

Wait did Lonely in Gorgeous not make it either? I'm not even a fan of the series, but that's one of my fave OPs ever...
(I like Date Time too. I just... think the two OPs are a lot better.) |

I also prefer Just One Life(and the second OP) over Date Time so I'm sad that it didn't make it. I also love Kuchizuke. It's such a great and creepy song for a creepy and underrated anime.

My three favorite Noitamina songs didn't make the list being Samurai Flamenco OP 2, Un-Go ED, and No. 6 OP. So I'm more than a little disappointed. Zankyou no Terror's OP was good though so
I'm glad it got some recognition! |

Glad to see Psycho-Pass's, Psycho-Pass 2's and Zankyō no Terror's OPs (and EDs sans Zankyō no Terror's) made the cut.

I'm surprised at how many people regard the H&C ED songs with fondness. Unlike the lively OP songs, I thought they were bland and forgettable and skipped them after a few listens.
I don't have much issue with the list, but how on earth did the moody, icy electronics ofA Tatami Galaxy's ED not make it? EDIT:
Gah, Sign of Love from House of Five Leaves is another notable omission. Also, Gekka Reijin is by far my favourite song from Shiki. The guitars and drumming evoke 80s goth rock in the best possible way. Last edited by ElectricDork on Fri Jan 30, 2015 10:01 am; edited 1 time in total |

Hell, I'm surprisingly happy that Hataraki Man's "Shangri-la" made it on there. It's probably my favorite of the bunch.
For anyone who wants to see a list of all of the OPs and EDs for Noitamina, I created one here. So, from my favorites I selected:
I got 6 out of 10 from my top 10 choices (not too bad). And the cd also contains all of the Psycho-Pass songs I love, which helps make up for what wasn't included. Man, I think I'm gonna have to buy this. Can this be bought on AmazonJP or is it only through the Aniplex website? |

Katanagatari did a rerun on Noitamina, so technically only the new OP for that broadcast can be included since the original broadcast was then part of a special once a month airing scheme. I wasn't fond of the new OP and it seems most of the voters felt the same. |

Not too surprising that such a big chunk are from Guilty Crown and Psycho-Pass. As much as I ended up disliking Guilty Crown, I can't exactly dispute the inclusion of its theme songs on this list. Also, the first opening from Shiki was a nice surprise.

I still think the original two OPs should have been included. I did like the new OP, but not nearly as much as ALI Project's OP which is so addicting. Even in Noitamina's timeline, they list Katanagatari as a 2013 series, like it never even existed before then. I don't get the push. -_-; |

From this: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/刀語 It's very clear that the original broadcast date for Katanagatari was a good 3 years before the Noitamina rerun. In addition, the original OP and ED songs for the original broadcast are given as follows: オープニングテーマ 「冥夜花伝廊」(第1話 - 第7話) 作詞 - 畑亜貴 / 作曲 - 上松範康 / 編曲 - 菊田大介 / 歌 - 栗林みな実 「刀と鞘」(第8話 - 第12話) 作詞 - 宝野アリカ / 作曲・編曲 - 片倉三起也 / 歌 - ALI PROJECT エンディングテーマ 「誰そ彼の月華」(第1話) 作詞 - YUI / 作曲・編曲 - 橘尭葉 / 歌 - 妖精帝國 「Refulgence」(第2話) 作詞 - 少女病 / 作曲・編曲 - ピクセルビー / 歌 - 少女病 「千本千女の刃毬唄」(第3話) 作詞・作曲 - 畑亜貴 / 編曲 - 加藤達也 / 歌 - 畑亜貴 「虚無の華」(第4話) 作詞 - 霜月はるか / 作曲・編曲 - myu / 歌 - kukui 「愛と誠」(第5話) 作詞 - 畑亜貴 / 作曲 - 伊藤真澄 / 編曲 - 虹音 / 歌 - とがめ(田村ゆかり) 「雪ノ女」(第6話) 作詞 - 宝野アリカ / 作曲・編曲 - 片倉三起也 / 歌 - ALI PROJECT 「迷い子さがし」(第7話) 作詞 - 畑亜貴 / 作曲 - 伊藤真澄 / 編曲 - 虹音 / 歌 - 鑢七実(中原麻衣) 「からくり眠り談」(第8話) 作詞 - 畑亜貴 / 作曲・編曲 - 虹音 / 歌 - のみこ 「証」(第9話) 作詞 - Annabel / 作曲・編曲 - myu / 歌 - Annabel 「否、と姫は全てを語らず」(第10話) 作詞 - 畑亜貴 / 作曲 - 伊藤真澄 / 編曲 - 虹音 / 歌 - 否定姫(戸松遥) 「亡霊達よ野望の果てに眠れ」(第11話) 作詞 - 畑亜貴 / 作曲・編曲 - 中山真斗 (Elements Garden) / 歌 - 飛蘭 「時すでに始まりを刻む」(第12話) 作詞 - 畑亜貴 / 作曲・編曲 - 虹音 / 歌 - 栗林みな実 whereas the Noitamina slot has the following: オープニングテーマ 「拍手喝采歌合」 作詞・作曲・編曲 - ryo / 歌 - supercell エンディング・テーマ 「言ノ葉」(第1話 - 第11話)、「Kotonoha-Ballad-」(第12話のみ) 作詞・作曲・編曲 - Samfree / 歌 - ピコ If it didn't air in Noitamina, it doesn't get included in the list of OP and ED songs to vote for. End of story. |

There's certainly some recency bias in these results. Before AnoHana, Mononoke was the all-time leader in noitaminA disc sales, averaging nearly 13,000 units per release. Yet neither the OP, "Kagen no Tsuki," nor the beautiful ED, "Natsu no Hana," made the list. Of the songs on the list that I do know, they tend to be "poppier" than those two as well.
I was pretty surprised to see "Mononoke Dance" make the cut, but Hakaba Kitarou did have the highest ratings of any show ever carried on noitaminA through the end of 2012 (since then, anime ratings data have largely dried up). And I guess even PUFFY couldn't generate much interest for the strangely out-of-place OP they performed on Genji Monogatari Sennenki, "Hiyori Hime." |

Practically nothing I voted for made it on here. I mean I love the Supercell and EGOIST songs but I already own the singles AND albums for them so I didn't vote for them.
I'll probably pick this up anyway, it still has a few good songs but it certainly could have had a better selection from my perspective at least. (Also Nodame Cantabile Opening instead of the Ending? Y'all need to get your tastebuds checked) |
