a really good series, glad it's getting an official release. One thing i've enjoyed about it is that it never loses the 'Classroom' aspect that usually gets ignored in shonen series, and the series is actually better for it.

I'm glad I took the time to check it out because I had dismissed it at first as a Danganronpa clone.

I personally don't think that some characters look little too young. I thought that they all looked around 14-15 year olds(as they should be).

I noticed a few users on another site guessing the same when they saw the 3DS game get an article. My thoughts are just to give everything a shot and look beyond the name like you did.
Even Danganronpa (though I haven't played it and expect it to be good) isn't the first media or school or classroom where characters are accusing each other of murders. The execution and spin on the concept matters, but my pointless ranting aside.
The next volumes will have a greater quota of "assassination" to go with the "classroom" though the series for the next ten volumes does a fine job or portraying and balancing both.

I watched the ova/anime and what stuck to me nevgatively was that the jokes grew old really fast; I mean it was just one ova and the jokes got old, I hope it's a case of the adaptors only caring about one aspect of the series (the jokes) while neglecting everything else.

My thoughts exactly. I just now realized they have the same creator, and while the anime was already on my list, I'm going to need to check out the manga, too.

I second that. The only problem is the lack of enough time to read the manga

I've only read the first chapter (got the volume last weekend along with the Another light novel and The Art of Princess Mononoke, some good finds at my bookstore), but it was great stuff so far. Very interested to see where it's headed.

Hear hear. But trust me, it's worth reading.

I gotta say Jump is really starting to get my attention lately in terms of entertainingthings tor read weekly. I thinknI just realized this with the newest horikoshi manga being nearly everything I could ever want out of a manga like that, but AC is one of the manga that reinforces it for me. I'm not sure I can think of another manga in the magazine thats so confident and sure of itself which is what I got out of the first few chapters. I haven't read nuero yet but I'm eager to give thata shot since I've liked what this author has done here.

Neuro is one of my favorite mangas. However, you need to prepare yourself: Neuro is much, much darker than Assassination Classroom. It's a mystery/detective manga with supernatural elements, but putting more attention into the twisted nature of the criminals instead of the trick used to murder.
...and Neuro as a character is the greatest.

I must say, this was an incredibly attention-grabbing cover for this book. Was the Japanese book like that too, with a big yellow happy Koro-sensei face?
In any case, this was a release I had long been waiting for, and it did not disappoint. I like stories about the caring, talented teacher assisting troubled students at rough schools, because I had gone to a series of them during my childhood and saw the devastating effects not having such a person would have on a kid's mental state.
Quote: | This might not even be something that occurred to us if Koro-sensei wasn't so determined to help his students, working with each of them to help them improve and succeed, in everything except killing him, of course. |
I would say he DOES help them in killing him, just in a weird, roundabout way in that each time a student attempts to kill him, he will explain to the class about why it failed.

Yep. Every volume has a different Koro-sensei face on the cover. (It must be nice for the mangaka to never have to spend too long on cover design.)

Been reading this since it was first ever released and its my 2nd favorite manga of all time. The shounen fights are definitely there. Uberhyped when I heard it was getting an anime.
