I read this like 2 weeks ago.
Anyway, this could have been avoided had he not wore the same shirt they last saw him in.

It WOULD have been anime news ten years ago, before Crunchyroll.
As it is, we can sit back and savor the irony that he was arrested in Asia.
(I remember on the days of Usenet, every time some hacker ungracefully posted looking for "Where can I get the free bootleg pirate movies?", it nearly always had a .nl, .dk or .de on the e-mail address.
For years, we were convinced that not a single movie theater or video rental existed in the entire Nordic half of Europe.)

Except somehow CR went legit and that's proof that copyright infringing or pirate companies can become legit.

It's related to anime because some people (including foreigners outside of Japan) like to download anime, manga & video games on the torrent sites.

Neij, OTOH, went the WikiLeaks route of making himself the "Martyr" of Internet Freedom (snicker!), had to flee the country, and found that nobody likes a crook, anywhere.
If you want to be accepted, you put on your grownup tie and go commercial.

I cannot think of any definition of "lube" that makes sense in this context.
