Adding a company starting with a number

When i tried to add a company that starts with a number i get the following reply:

This company doesn't exist in the database and will be added
Company cannot be added: name does not begin with a letter
ERROR > either fix the source of the error or remove this info

Is there any reason why companys are not allowed to start with numbers?
And any idea to get around it, if it wont be changed?
