Okay, I'm even more excited to see the results of this project, especially Oshii-san's movie concluding things. With the staff currently working on this, it could turn out really well. It certainly will be an interesting contrast to the animated forms of the franchise. Considering the number of stills, they seem to be progressing quite nicely. I'm also not as much against the look of the Patlabor carrier as I initially was. I'll just chalk it up to the results of the cutbacks the SV team has experienced. The carrier in it's original animated form, though, still looks much cooler. I see also that SV2D2 has picked up a mascot.

Why would anyone want to watch a Patlabor movie without Captain Gotoh in it?

I think this will be great. I know not many of the old cast will be in this, but I think it can take off and be its own. I guess I need to watch the old episodes again!

Good question, but I think this could turn out decently since it's being tailored as taking place after the anime with an entirely new cast and Shige having seniority over them. Hopefully, they might have somebody taking the reigns as the character who's laziness covers up their sagacity.

No it didn't, though that was primarily because they made it the official third Patlabor movie instead of calling it something else. This live action series might actually work because it is being kind of presented as the start of a new continuity.

Well, technically, they made it clear that it wasn't a direct sequel.

Looks interesting, they put allot detail into this. I hope its full of surprises and entertaining. I'm little confused though (properly budget reasons) why is the Patlabors so small. I though the thing is suppose be slightly bigger than that. Looks like need more room for engine in comparison to the anime.

With many of the new characters having fairly similar names to the original Patlabor crew, it wouldn't totally surprise me if their personalities were similar, too. ^^ I'm only slightly optimistic about the series, but I'm still really looking forward to it.

Simply because Patlabor kicks ass with or without Goto and Shinobu.

The last time I watched WXIII, I felt that most of the characters they focused on weren't as memorible as the main Patlabor characters. It could of worked cause I liked the idea of a Patlabor movie that has its focus on different characters, but I always felt WXIII was the weakest of the Patlabor movies.

Oh, undoubtedly. But it was still pretty decent on its own.
