And well deserved imo. This show is one of my favorites from the current Fall lineup. Every episode is just so damn intense!

So do DVR ratings matter to networks? I wouldn't think they would matter against the actual tv ratings. That said, the dvd/blu ray preorders have been really high, so it must be doing quite well.

undeserved IMO. most overrated anime of the season by far. bland story, lazy action. its best parts are references to older series

Glad to see my top 2 favourite shows this season in the Top 5 - both Kill la Kill and Kyousougiga are there!
Glad to see these two shows that really deserve it do so well, hopefully both continue to do well through their airings. |

Well I would agree to the bland story part. Not sure how you could accuse it of lazy action though.

it doesn't matter for networks. TV networks get money from ads and from sales of tv time slots. Yes, anime companies have to pay to put their anime on TV. Anime companies make their money from toys and bluray/dvd sales. Edit: PS3 Torne is actually hurt the TV networks. This is why Sony doesn't release it in US because it maybe illegal. I honestly was more excited to see Kyousogiga be in the top 5 (albiet at the bottom as #5 itself)
As for Kill la Kill, eh it's to be expected. While I do think it's over all stupid it can be the fun kind of stupid. I can't say I've dropped it either... |

Well, it has a pretty terrible slot at 2 am. So that's not all that surprising. I'm more surprised at Kyoukai no Kanata's ranking considering it airs at a slightly more reasonable 12:30 am and doesn't really have much momentum behind it sales-wise.

No, no, Tor among geeks means something else.
Besides, Sony is eschewing the all-entertainment system in lieu of a pure gaming console for the PS4, so doubtful this'll spread. Guess PS3 owners just loves them some F-Gar. |

Things don't work quite like this. Normally it exist a committee of companies that get together. Those companies give an initial budget and help in the production. Normally the TV station is also in the committee and receives the fix TV Slot money, a Huge percentage of TV adds(the rest go for the committee) and the money distributed by the committee(basically each company store a percentage of money they do(TV ratings for TV companies to DVD sales for Distributor companies) and the rest of that percentage goes to the committee. Later this money is distributed given the initial budget that each company gave(a company that gave a bigger initial budget gets a bigger percentage of the final profit). |

How is it different than any other DVR (which are clearly legal in the US)? |

Because "overrated" just means "people like it more than I think they should" and so he had to toss something out there to make that sound like a justifiable position. |

That's is just insane. Seems Trigger succeeded in creating a division of fans. I've been watching the show. So far it's the one show I've been watching since it aired. And I'll have to admit it's bright, insane, WAY OVER THE TOP, and not to be taken too seriously. And yeah, there's exploitation too. If you've watched shows like this you know what you're getting. I like it and can't wait to own. Some of the anime fans here at the college are already speaking with an instructor who (is pretty well known in some art circles) about putting it on his request list. So already some students are hoping that we pick it up. And we will, mainly because it's Imaishi and we already have some of his works already. From Dead Leaves to Gurren Lagann to the absurd Panty & Stocking. Students may want to look at what he's done even if it doesn't hold any academic value.
Now where are the beautiful awesome collectibles? |
