Welcome Adam. I agree that the $25.00 price tag for a 7" figure is high. I have one local chain store (Hastings) selling the Evengelions for $22.00 which I passed on but picked up the Getter for $9.99. Some retailer are using the name recognition to demand higher prices. The truly interesting part of this line is the joint structure. I would love to see some other vinyl manufactures look at this joint as a way to offer articulation in other lines as well.
I look forward to your next column and your views on the toy industry in North America. I too would love a feed for this column. |

Toys?! More toys! Aaaaaaaaaagh!
Sorry. It just seems I can't escape seeing all sorts of new and recent toys lately. This weekend I found out was the New York Toy Fair. Tons of new lines and figures debuted there. Then I found out about a new Japanese line of Marvel Comics figures from Yamato toys over at a blog my blog shares a site with. Plus I went to a local comic store yesterday, larger than my regular one, and saw all the figures just lining the shevles and walls. So yeah, it seems as if I can't escape this horrible little hobby. As for this Revoltech Evangelion figure, for once, I think I'll pass. I already ahve most all of the Kaiyodo ones (skipping 04, which was never on the show) and I'm happy with them. I think my local store did order the special edition Soul of Chogakin (or however you spell it) Eva 01 with die cast parts. Now -that- seemed different enough to pick up. |

For those interested here are pics of the products Organic showed off at US ToyFair including their Revoltech line and the New Witchblade Anime figure.
Xenos those Marvel figures will be released only in Japan, YamatoUSA does not have a Marvel license for North America. Another interesting point is that DC Direct, a US company, will be offering an Anime styled line called Ame-Comi Several people are already asking how far a US company will go down the Fan Service road. |

And the answer is not far enough! We need Supergirl bending over for a panty shot or Poison Ivy with Batgirl in vine bondage. C'mon. These are nothing compared to some of the Japanese figures out there.

I agree - with the second part of that statement. I think these figures are great and I really don't need the whole panty shot version.
