I have been looking for a good anime series to buy for the holidays. And I decided to go with Nadia after a few good friends recommended it. So I looked for Nadia, and from what I have found, the DVD collections are hard to find? I mean, shouldn't the box sets still be in production at least a few years after they have been made? From what I've found out, it seems that ADV is completely sold out of them and other places to buy it like Rightstuf seem to be on order from manufacturer?
Does this mean that ADV is going to stop selling Nadia or something, are they planning a new box set?

I don't see why they'd do this, seeing as how both box sets come with audio CD's and the second one coming with the film. (I mean sure, they are like $45-$50, but I think this would be a decent show to invest in.)

I'd personally like to get the already available box sets because they have the audio CD's.
If anyone has any info, just let me know. Thanks.

Does it have to be a box set? Looks like you can get all the individual disks shy of volume 8 for 4.99 each in the bargain bin. My favorite place on rightstuf. And you can pick up volume 8 at Just Manga for $15. It would end up being cheaper overall than the two boxes, which are also harder to find.

Hmm... yeah, I had checked Rightstuf out, thanks for pointing out the fact that the DVD's are only like $5, I didn't realize that. If push comes to shove, I may have to just do that. I don't mind the individual dvd's, it's just that the box set is easier to store and carry around. I may just end up buying the second box set from Rightstuf, and then the individual dvd's for the first season. Though, if anyone can point out the first box set (besides amazon.com), that would be cool too.

Though, I still wonder why ADV would do something like this, I mean, it makes sense if they were planning on a second box set thing, but it doesn't even seem like they are/will do that. (Then again, this is one of the reasons why I'm not a supporter of ADV.)

(Thanks for the reply undeadben.)

No problem, and I know about having an easier time with the boxes, also since that second one comes with the movie. Sorry, but I could not locate the 1st box set anywhere, but if you are going to pick up the 2nd one at rightstuf, remember they only have 6 left in stock and it doesn't look like its in production anymore. Oh, and it is an in stock item so you can use the 20% off clearance code "yearend2006."

This series is one of the forgotten gems of the past with an excellent plot -no wonder since it was written by Anno, the man behind Evangelion- it progresses pretty well except for a bunch of boring fillers at the beginning of collection 2.

I assume ADV halted all production of it because it's a pretty unknown title and the the quality of the old graphics won't appeal to most anime viewers nowadays..

I loved Nadia, it's one of my favourite series. Some people think it gets sloppy in the middle but I enjoyed the light hearted filler bits so it never bothered me.

I was really lucky though and scored both from Ebay (mint condition) for $20 which just goes to show you can find legit bargains on there. Very Happy

I would definately get it in one form or another though if you can find it.

I just looked at the $70 price tags on my Nadia LDs. I actually have all 10 volumes on Laser Disc. Maybe this is why I find it so funny when people complain that series cost them $200! Thanks to the abundance of R1 titles it is so much easier to basically buy a dozen box sets for the price of one series back in the early 90s. I will have to say that I love the iridescent covers for Escaflowne and RG Veda LDs. I love how all the colors reflect off of the surface.

Hm.. yeah, it looks like I bought the second box set of Rightstuf, since I live in Iowa.. yay for state tax included on it...

Not sure what I'm going to do about the first half of the series now.. may just buy the individual dvd's from Rightstuf, but I'm still looking for the first box set. And at a decent price. eBay gives me nadia, I mean nada. (haha?)

P.S. (Lord Kefka likes Gunslinger loli.) (Maybe?)
