I recently purchased a new copy of Evangelion: 2.22 blu ray and was disappointed to find it did NOT come with its cardboard slip cover. It's shelved next to Evangelion 1.11 and looks incredibly naked (not to mention it's irking the crap out of me). Is there any place (online or otherwise) that sells just slip covers?
Or, is there anyone who has this particular slip cover and would be willing to part with it? I would definitely paypal gift some cash for it. Let me know! |

If you email Funimation (I can't remember the exact address, it's probably on their website), they might send you one. They've sent me replacements before when my slipcovers arrived damaged (though sometimes they were in worse shape still).

It's only the first pressing that came with the orange slipcover, the later pressings don't. I bought it recently too and mine didn't have the slipcover either though personally I don't miss it.
Funimation doesn't offer replacement slipcovers anymore so finding someone selling theirs would be your best bet for getting one. |

They don't do that anymore. I had a damaged slipcover I asked about getting replaced a couple months ago and was denied. They said to exchange it with the retailer. |

Oh that's a bummer. I just wish they would stop putting slipcovers on EVERYTHING. It just feels unnecessary. |

Yeah but at the very least they could shrinkwrap the slipcovers instead of having them loose. That would help prevent some damage at least. That also helps with retail stores putting price stickers on them. |

Blu-ray.com has a trade thread dedicated to slipcovers.

Well then they really need to change the stock photo! And yeah, it wouldn't really be that much of a problem if the first movie didn't have a slip cover. Which it does. And it just sits there next to its naked brother. Destroying the flow and continuity. And mocking me. Now I know you're all probably thinking, 'duhh, just take the slip cover off the first one!' And to that I say, 'NEVER.' |

Am I the only one who just throws the slipcovers away?

Doesn't anyone see the slight irony of wanting to keep a slip cover in pristine shape? Their purpose is, basically, just to protect the case. They are mainly made to be beat up- instead of the actual case.

True. But anyone with even mild collector tendencies likes everything to be complete and in as good condition as an open item can be. Of course there are plenty of people out there who toss slip covers, leave DVDs laying around out of their cases, strew the cases around haphazardly, etc. But I'm someone who is incredibly neurotic when it comes to DVD collection, care, and shelving. |

I don't know, I think they add a nice touch to an otherwise ordinary release. Maybe it's just me, but I think if somebody like Sentai would include them in their releases, it would somehow increase the level of collectability to them.
As it stands, the only reason to by a Sentai title is for the show itself, since there's nothing special beyond that. Granted, they have a ton of decent series, but their releases aren't exactly meant for collectors. Maybe a slipcover is a throwaway item for some, but I wish every title had them. While we're on the subject of slip covers, does anyone know if Gunslinger Girl season one blu-ray is supposed to have one? Because season two does, and much like the OP's complaint, looking at my shelves, this naked case is really bugging me. |

I usually buy Blu-Ray/DVD slip covers via internet.

I prefer to keep my slip covers except in the few cases where I am forced to toss them. I had one or two situations when the case with the slip cover would not fit into a box set or when the case with the box set didn't come with a slip cover but the second set that was supposed to fit did. What am I supposed to do with the extra cover then? I've also tossed one or two slip covers because the stores I bought them from decided that the biggest stickers covering the most art was necessary. Removing the stickers either made a mess or left such a strong sticky residue that again wasn't worth keeping them.
I'm in the same boat and lack of slip cover on GG bugs me too. I've been trying to decide if I should just toss season 2's slip cover just so that it doesn't annoy me. |

Yeah this would work as well. I always have to have a bottle of goo gone and/or a hairdryer at the ready when I buy anything at retail, to try and get those nasty stickers off |
