For some reason I thought this series was a lot older because of the crappy animation in the anime. (Not that all "vintage" anime is ugly.)
I hope its fans are excited about the ending and that it will be a good one to reward the people who supported the title for almost two decades.

Too bad NOBODY will rescue the manga because it's far too long. Ugh. I stopped caring after the Purple Shadow stuff anyway because it just got tedious, but I would give a whole kidney to see the manga rescued, digital or not.

I definitely want to see how Initial D ends. Maybe not quite a whole kidney, but I think I'd be willing to make sacrifices to get the rest of the series in English. Definitely rather a physical release though, it looks kind of sad to only have half the series on the shelf.

Now there's a hard core fan! Very impressive.

I gave up on this at the first arch, as I found it repetitive as well. I never knew it still carried on. It pissed me off that the new AE86 is really just a Suburu with Toyota badges stuck on. WTF?

Its the other way around. The engine and drive train are Subaru but everything else is Toyota. The BRZ is a rebadged GT86.

Hopefully they'll get to finishing up the anime when this is done.

I remember when this franchise was hot, even the manga was sold in Radio Shack.

Erm, no. Engine and drive train is the heart and soul of any car, the rest is just "skin" and apart from a few little interior tweaks there's little difference even in shape and style.

Yeah, there's only one race left to adapt, and now that it's over in the manga, there's no reason not to animate it, especially if you consider Fifth Stage's solid DVD sales.

Great news. Maybe he can take some time off to learn how to draw.

Thats pretty harsh, many classics in many genre have what could be considered terrible art.
Utena, Princess Knight, Rose of Versallies, Escaflowne all have that horrid shoujo art where women look like men, and everyone has a freakin icicle for a nose.
Shin Chan is one of the better gag comedies ever made, and well its flat out ugly.
Even Toryiama has quite a few people turned off by his drawing style.
Hell even Ghibli has been criticized by a lot of people as having poor character design and subpar animation.
Lets not forget a contemporary example in Aku no Hana.
At the end of the day not everyone can be Tony Taka, Range Murata, etc; and as long as the story and other elements are solid then the work can still be at a high level.
For the record the only kemononzue or however its spelled is the only anime that I think is unwatchable due to art style and design.

You are entitled to your opinion (even if it's BS), however, the fact of the matter is that the car was jointly designed by Subaru and TOYOTA and, as such, HAS TOYOTA DNA IN IT. Additionally, the car features many of the same characteristics that the original AE86 had (RWD, low curb weight), so from a personal standpoint, I feel that people who argue that the 86/FR-S isn't faithful to the original car are simply nitpicking.
