It's kinda crazy that Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun and Hyouka still not got licensed after all that popularity it's been gettin.

Not to jock Sentai or anything, but what's up with the title "Kinmoza?" I mean, I thought "Golden Mosaic" would work just fine. Awkward choice of title there, Sentai.

They don't choose the titles. That's up to the Japanese companies. There is a good chance that the title could change in the future, as has happened with many Sentai simulcasts. |

Agree and Hayoire Nyaruko is another head scratcher, both Sentai and Funi should be going for this title, but I assume that by now there would have been announcement if they were going to license it. |

Well, the Japanese companies FINALIZE the name, if anything. If Sentai was more-or-less put into a position where they had to keep that particular title, okay. Otherwise, my original comment stands. |

Crunchyroll's had it pegged as Kinmoza for about a week or two now. I'm assuming it was a call from the licensor for "consistency's" sake.

"KINMOZA" has been used ever since Showgate, the Japanese licensor, listed the show on their English-language site a couple of months ago. They're guaranteed to be the ones that mandated the name be used.

I do like how the show about an English girl gets a completely gibberish nickname for it's North American release.

Ah. Okay, I see now. Looks like Sentai didn't have a choice in the matter. Well, that clears that up.

....And the horrific Sentai title names continue......(still awesome to see that this is getting a physical release here though.)
BS! Why on earth would any Japanese company insist on using the simplified, Americanized, and extreme titles that grace a good portion of the series within Sentai Filmworks' catalog?! They may sign off on and approve of the name that Sentai Filmworks wants the series' title to be, but I don't believe that titles such as "My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU" are "forced" upon Sentai.
Doesn't prove that they mandated that title (negotiations for this title being licensed (and the subsequent renaming of the work by Sentai (with Showgate's permission)) could have started months ago). Ultimately, until someone shows me either a company memo that indicates that Showgate insisted on that title being used, or an individual from the company (NOT from Sentai) states that as being the case, I refuse to believe that they insisted on this title being used for the R1 release. |

The absent of Dog Days Season 1 and 2, Nanoha series, and Zero no Tsukaima Season 1-3 from Sentai Filmworks like a kick to my crotch.

Judging from most of their slife-of-life or light moe type series, I bet this will be another DVD only release from Sentai

Wow, seriously? Do you do any research before you spout off? TBS used the name Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu for international licensing before Sentai had picked up the show. Not to mention, if it was just Sentai making up names, why would companes like MVM, Madman, Siren, and others be forced to use the same name? Not to mention, several of the shows have English translated names in their credits, which Sentai has never done. http://www.tbs.co.jp/eng/programsales/animation/myteenromanticcomedysnafu.html All the English promo material for Snafu and Kinmoza have used the English names that Sentai's been using. Why would they sign contracts and then tell Sentai to use a completely different name than they've been promoting the shows to the English speaking world as? Do you have any common sense what so ever, or understand promotion in the least? Also, TBS has a few Americans on their international licensing team. At one point, and it may still be, the head of their licensing operations was also American. It's likely that they are behind the decisions to simplify names, as it has happened several times with their titles. I agree that it sucks that the Japanese sometimes pick unfortunate names, but there isn't exactly a whole lot that Sentai can do about it. The best we can hope for, is that they get approval to use the formal name when the show is released, or that they do a subtitle as they have with many other shows. As has been mentioned before, Sentai has been able to change the official release name after their simulcast, such as Moretsu Space Pirates ultimately using the "official" English title of Bodacious Space Pirates. And I would hate to break it to you, Showgate and TBS aren't in the habit of leaving confidential negotiation materials and internal memos lying around on the internet to disprove your paranoia. Also, why would Sentai insist on cheesy sounding names? Just to annoy you? Did you forget to take your meds today? Even if they did, why would the Australian and British companies go along with the name changes, even when Sentai doesn't create English credits? Do you realize how little sense your rant made, or do you need it explained again? Last edited by dragonrider_cody on Sun Jul 07, 2013 12:02 am; edited 1 time in total |

They're working on Zero, but it seems like it might be a while before we have another update. |
