Well, I'm not sure who this "Desslock" is, but Desslar is indeed blue.

If you want to get pedantic, it's actually "Desler" in 2199.

I sure hope someone picks up this series for a North American release, preferably on BD and including an English dub.

Completely agree with this. I've been buying the imports, thanks to the included subs, since I thought there was no chance of it getting picked up until Funi surprisingly (awesomely!) grabbed the latest movie out of nowhere.
I really hope this series gets picked up and dubbed (and it needs the BD)!
Would buy day 1.

It will be a wait-and-see. With such a long and storied property (the TV broadcast will end 39 years to the day since the original series premiered on Japanese television), that is known to a western audience, logic would say that it's a formality. That said, I'd be surprised if they announce it before the end of the TV run, or at the very earliest, after the general Blu-Ray release of the final chapter (which is scheduled for late September).
But I agree with you. My copy of Chapter 5 arrived on Wednesday, and as someone who first saw Star Blazers at the age of eight, I can tell you this has grown into something much bigger than the original. And that's no slight on the original, it's just they figured out how to do a remake right. And we're still to see more than the trailer for Chapter 6... makes me wonder what it will be like in Tokyo on 24 August when I'm walking into the premiere of the last movie of the series.

I on the other hand, have a big hope for the English dub, since already the US media dubbed the Yamato 2199 as the Star Blazers 2199! So, maybe!
What really interesting to me that how come the Empire of Japan, unilaterally, without the UN participation or at least coordination, declared a war on the Interstellar Empire of Gamillus? That's funny!

Hey, maybe that's how they managed to buy Manhattan in Akira!

Touché.
Anyway, I'd be interested in seeing this get licensed for NA. Perhaps that will give the classic version a chance to be.

Oh it will be, but I hear it will be called Star Blazers 2199. Desler is Desslock's illegitimate son.
