Well the original is dengeki Hime, or electric princess, but shock princess works just as well for a translation.

And so far the dub isn't really bad. Got both dvd parts in the mail today and just started watching it in English. I thought misaka's voice would bother me more but it isn't bad. And while unfortunately Kurokos voice is very different (who can actual do that original voice in English and not make it sound horribly stupid?) it works fairly well in its own right. Even sissy was not that hard to get used to, though it still bugs me sometimes how they put the emphasis on the Mi- in Misaka instead of on the Sa-. And both Uiharu and Saten both sound great in English.

Cool. More confirmation that Brittney can't pronounce her own character's name properly. I don't know she gets getting work in the industry. I don't mean to insult her, but it's like she (and Funimation of course) are not even trying to say it properly in this dub. They have a lot of great dubs in Funimation but this is just poor. I don't mind localizing things like "sissy" but saying names wrong is just lazy.

The Strongest Electromaster is NOT a "Shock Princess"

Here's a secret for you: All anime was uploaded "by pirates" before it was released in the US.

I'm to understand that I'm suppose to watch the Index show before this one...

Does that show have enough cute girls to hold my attention?

I'm not bothered by the dub (not a dub fan but I don't have to listen to it) but I am bothered by the lack of Blu-Ray. I assumed the three year-long wait for A Certain Scientific Railgun was because Funimation was waiting for however long Geneon's reverse-importation moratorium for Blu-Ray would end. I assumed wrong.

I mean, I'll probably still buy the Railgun DVDs eventually (but not this month for financial reasons), but I'm still very disappointed that I'll be watching a show animated in high-definition in a non-high-definition format.

I enjoyed Railgun without watching Index. It's fairly self-contained and I just used Google to get any Index references I didn't understand.

it's got more characters and more touma X biribiri scenes, so yeah.
but index is much more story driven than railgun is.

I've always been interested in this franchise, but it took an unusual amount of work to figure out where to even start as the encyclopedia entry for both shows don't seem to reference each other in the "related anime" section...

If I'm gonna go in, gotta go all the way in, baby.

(should still cancel my Funimation subscription, however)
