Cool. I have an extra incentive to finish watching it.

Great news.
I just hope they can get enough support/funding for a season 2.
You just don't get decent mature shows like this any more.

Just making sure: You do know that Funimation does not make Anime, right? They are a dubbing and distributing company. North American sales won't have any effect on whether a second season will be made. Only sales in Japan will determine it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but won't Production I.G. still got at least some of the profits that would be made from sales in America? I'm not sure how this works, but it sounds like that is how it should be.

It could happen, if it makes gangbusters money to where FUNi tries to become part of a production committee for a possible second season. But how many times has this ever happened? Burn Up!? Big O? IGPX? Maybe a few more than that but still so little it's an outlier number?

They only get the licensing fees and nothing more. Funimation gets all the profits from North American sales.

If that were true then how come we never got that season 2 of Fruits Basket?

Because every circumstance is going to be unique. Why didn't we get more Outlaw Star, wasn't that supposed to be a big hit here too? And yet we did get the Cowboy Bebop and Trigun movies (eventually). That it can happen doesn't mean it will.

Could be a bunch of different reasons. The same thing in question is "why didn't they finish the show/do a remake with the manga over?" Even if the show was popular, I'm sure there's other factors with why it didn't continue. Same can be said with a bunch of shows.

Is it really good? I haven't watched a good anime in a long while and have been eyeing up this show since it looks in line with Stand Alone Complex.

There's mixed opinions floating around. I found it decent, but nowhere near excellent like I'd consider some of the GitS entries.

I found the ending disappointing and looking back I think it stems from a lot of other issues the series had (mainly in world building or lack of and characters feeling more like mouth pieces than real characters).

It was an entertaining watch and it kept me enthralled for 22 weeks but after the ending I am not sure if I would buy it.

Now that the series is finished, I plan to start watching it soon. If it's good, i'll definitely buy it.

Whelp, that explains why I wasn't sure if the show was aiming for a second season or not with it's ending, shall make sure to buy since I liked it, ending and all.

Because apparently the director and the manga-ka hated each other by the end of it, I think Justin has talked about it (in passing) in an ANNcast or two.
