He was reffering to number of shows they are presenting at TAF.

I'd rather have an anime of this instead of the tea ceremony anime because:
1. This sounds really, really interesting.
2. I've had enough of slice of life/cute girls doing cute things/girls in clubs anime.
Nothing against these kind of anime but if I had to choose between Akubi o Suru and Sadon Desu, I'd take Akubi any day. But I can bet my boots that Sadon Desu has more chance of making money than Akubi.

Man, how often do we get a series of a girl in wetsuit? So I hope for this as well.

Now this actually sounds interesting, but I'm sure the high school club slice-of-life show will get funded instead.

More original Gainax projects are always good news!
I prefer their original stories more than their adaptations except TUYBW, that was just plain bad.
Quote: | Gainax intends to air the anime for two cours or half a year, although Gainax producer Tomoko Saito informed ANN that the project has not been green-lit yet, and is still collecting funds. The project has been in the works for six years. |
That's nothing compared to Blue Uru's some 20 years of development hell and probably some more projects as well. I sincerely hope both projects are funded and the show comes out in 2015 or so. I'm sure the underwater visuals would be gorgeous.

I remember hearing this bandied about at some Gainax event a million billion years ago. I've always wondered what happened to it. (The questionable translation of that event at the time said that the project was shoujo, which interested me since Gainax hasn't done shoujo since, like... Kare Kano, unless you want to count Yucie. This might have been misinformation, since the info they gave about Shikabane Hime, which was announced at the same time, turned out to be kinda off-the-mark itself.)
I'm really glad that they're still moving towards creating this show and hope it actually gets made one day!!

'Great' is subjective. It's a word that varies from fan to fan. Some might argue for Panty and Stocking, while others might argue for Gurren Lagann. I personally enjoy Medaka Box (NisiOsin knows how to write rather well). But whether or not they've been in a dry spell depends on your opinion.

I like how the article made it sounds like it was an exclusive for ANN:
although Gainax producer Tomoko Saito (Medaka Box) informed ANN that the project has not been green-lit yet,

ANN has people at TAF so it is possible that they were able to ask the Gainax folks there about the projects personally.

Doesn't matter if they talked personally. Unless it was from an exclusive interview with ANN, then that is extremely misleading. Any reps from Ann will be just another face in the crowd that managed to get an answer.
Give you an an example.
A) Obama told CNN during a personal interview.
B)Obama replied to a question from a CNN reporter during a media scrum.
Which 1 will be correct if they would to say Obama informed CNN...?
