wow, they got two top anime singers, T.M. Revolution and Nana Mizuki, to the op theme.

I'm not liking the CG meches.

the story sounds like a gundam series. lol

The story is set the year Shinreki ("True Calendar") 71, when 70% of the human race lives in space due to the development of space cities. Between two major powers — the Dorushia Military Pact Federation and the Atlantic Ring United States (ARUS) — there is a small neutral nation called Jiōru that has prospered economically. The protagonist Haruto, a high school student who lives in Jiōru, encounters the mysterious "forbidden" humanoid weapon Valvrave when the Dorushia army invades.

The premise sounds like Gundam Seed. lol

neutral colony: Heliopolis (ORB)
two major powers: ZAFT and the Earth Alliance
army invades: ZAFT

The fact that TMR is doing the opening confirms this :p

TMR and Nana Mizuki doing an opening together? That opening will be made of unicorn tears and tiger blood. As long as Nana Mizuki isn't in the show as a pop idol that wields incredible military power.

Or... like every Gundam series.

MSG: Side 7 / Zeon vs Earth Federation / Zeon infiltration
0080: Riad / Zeon vs Earth Federation / Team Cyclops
0083: Torrington -neutral so so- / Delaz Fleet vs Earth Federation / Anabel Gato infiltration
Z: Green Noah 1 / AEUG vs Titans / AEUG strike team
etc.

Looks pretty bad. CG mechs are eww, but even the 2d animation looks kind of cheap.

Will at least watch 1 or 2 episodes, need a mech show.

MSG: Side 7 was affiliated with the Federation. The only colonies that were actually neutral were those of Side 6.

0080: Agreed

0083: Err..Torrington was a federation military testing facility so how is that neutral in anyway?

Z: Green Noa 2 was the Titan's headquarters (Gryps).

But I'm splitting hairs, in general the basic layout of the plot does seem gundamish; war between two sides, (earth and colonies) one side attacks hometown of the protagonist, protagonist gets caught in the crossfire and stumbles upon a giant mecha.

Not really digging the CG, character designs and animation are alright though. I guess I'll at least give the first two episodes a try.

I hope this is good. I've been eagerly waiting for a new mech series to pop up -- with strong male leads too, something current anime series have been lacking lately.

By strong, you're referring to well written male characters right? Not Kirito power level characters?

The designs despite being done by Katsura Hoshino still look rather bland. The school setting also kinda annoys me because i'm sure there are much more interesting places this could be set other than space school. Will be watching nevertheless Rolling Eyes

Like the cast. Could be interesting. Will give it a shot if Crunchy or Funi get it.
