MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAX HEART!!!
I may not love this season (I found it so boring I just skipped to the final) but boy is it important.

Yeah it taught them that they don't have enough gas to sustain two whole seasons with the same characters (though only after trying again with GoGo, to slightly better results because they actually did different plots and added an extra cure that was more than just a boring plot device).
Pretty much the only good thing to come out of Max Heart is the unintentional comedy of Akane's life changing forever because she gets brainwashed into thinking she has a cousin.

I really wish I could laugh it off and not feel guilty, but it is kinda creepy how much Akane "Loves Hikari" when she got brainwashed into it, heck a whole mini arc was about her passing on a job opportunity thanks to it.
I mean, I do laugh but feel really guilty.

The ‘memory altered to believe they’re family’ thing is inherited from some older magical girl shows which do the same thing (Majokko Megu-chan and Minky Momo, for instance). Raises awkward questions there too.
