This is really great news! Maybe if this was succesfull they'll be able to license the more popular Otomate titles (AMNESIA, Brothers Conflict, Clock Zero, Hiiro no Kakera etc.)

I'll be supporting any otome game/visual novel they license.
It is nice to see that they are trying out a different franchise, even though I've never heard of this title. It looks fun. |

OH MAN ヾ(:3ノシヾ)ノシ
I CAN'T WAIT ALREADY. SUMMER, COME SOON! More otome games mean, if this becomes a success like Hakuouki, more and more otome games licensed in English! (ノ≧▽≦*)ノ |

Why? Why waste money on more Idea Factory games? Why do small publishers keep bringing their stuff out over here?

If they do, I'll do whatever I can to get my hands on a PSP. Do these games work on the VITA? |

I'm not so sure such an obvious comedy parody of otome games would be any kind of indication that other otome games would do well here. A lot of guys like myself are going to be interested just because Inafune is in it and it looks ridiculously funny, but would never play a serious otome game like Hakuouki.

Never heard of this title, but it sounds interesting. My PSP is going to be glad, because it's been very idle for quite some time now.

I dont understand why they are licensing all these otome games, and we have never gotten a single ergoge game, or a dating sim aimed at men. I wont dispute there haven't been some games like Record of Agarest war that had some elements, but maybe with the exception of Sakura Wars V there have been no other male oriented dating sim games. Otome games are my guess a decent minority in Japan, yet this is at least the fourth game released or announced in under two years for the US.

Fourth? Aside from Hakuoki which was released last year (don't count Hakuoki Warriors of the Shinsengumi because it is a musou game without any romance) this is the 2nd game licensed that I heard of.
Hatoful Boyfriend was just translated by a fan with the author's permission like Umineko. The rest of English otome games I heard of were indie games made by Westerns. Keep in mind that many eroges have been translated by fans and most of them are for PC (nowadays in order to avoid piracy otome games tend to be released on PSP or DS except the porn ones). Let female gamers have some fun with these type of games, and honestly Hakuoki was an otome game which can be played by boys and girls if you like Japanese history because the romance only appears at the end of each route and are men forbidden to like romance or something? In Japan Hakuoki has been praised for its historical accuracy (the common route and Hijikata route especially) that even the general public who aren't otaku have heard of it and historical places like Hino use Hakuoki for advertisement. |

At least you get tons of fan-translated eroges. Otome games are rarely translated.. |

Do companies think guys won't buy visual novels/dating sims or do they think it's in bad taste. I don't know why only dating sims for girls get brought over

It isn't true that we have never gotten a single eroge. But they are PC games, because Sony and Nintendo won't allow smut on their hardware, and they are sold in obscure places like (NSFW) http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/UdLlbZghztR4WWRN9r/browse/category/4/673/36 and http://www.jlist.com/category/808. |

Official English releases of PC eroge have been translated for YEARS. MangaGamer and JAST are the first two companies that instantly pop in mind for eroge. I can't wait~~ Haha, various factors effected Aksys decision to release this title. I'm pretty sure the comedy/parody idea was a given. But also Mega Man's Inafune and the artwork (same artist that did the Phoenix Wright games) were probably two other deciding factors. |

Where did you get that idea?
Yea, I wonder. Maybe because they sell?
I don't know about official translations but there are loads of fan translated eroge. Last edited by phoenixalia on Fri Feb 15, 2013 12:14 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Yeah, all two of them! If this keeps up, video game markets will be flooded with girl games in no time! </sarcasm>
Besides Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom and Sweet Fuse, what are these other two? And even if there were four games, to think, the horror of having two otome games translated per year! Why, if this keeps up, by the end of next year, there might be six! As others have suggested, men looking for eroge should check out JAST/Peach Princess and Mangagamer, where there are dozens and dozens of translated eroge. I also don't quite understand the butthurt when there's an announcement like this, where one video game directed at women is licensed. Almost every other game out there that isn't specifically for little girls is marketed at men. Men don't exactly have limited choice when it comes to the video game market. Yet one game is being marketed at women, and there's resentment? My wife bought Hakuoki and she is very excited by this announcment. She will be picking Sweet Fuse up as well. |
