I just saw this random kid today who wandered into my classroom today who was wearing a NERV shirt. It was completly unexpected so I was just like OMFG AWESOME right in the middle of a lecture and he was like like yea man absolutely! Then he walked out.

Kind of surprising when that happens isn't it? One day one of my friends showed up with an EVA shirt as well, it had all the Units, but the funny thing is that he had been my friend since elementary and I had no idea he liked anime, let alone Eva. I did see a lot of DBZ shirts, but then again who didn't?
In college I see it more often though. I've seen Fruit Basket, Berserk, and many other anime themed shirts. No cosplayers though. Well not completely cause I've seen people with the Vash coat, but they don't so their hair or anything they just wear the coat... even though it was like 95 degrees farenheit that day . I remember that moment in particular because we had no idea how the hell he could still be wearing that on such a hot day.

This is one of those deals where I ask, "Who cares?" I have a NERV shirt myself and no one seems to care if I'm wearing it in public. Besides, I see dozens of kids wearing Fullmetal Alchemist and Initial D shirts almost everyday.

Its just awkward for me because I've never met someone IRL other than my friends who watch anime. Whats wierd was that I was looking at the same shirt the night before on a website, and then today he just happened to waltz in. My school is preaty small so I was stunned at first, but then grew a wide smile and everyone looked at me and was like LOL WTF?

You've never met other otaku in Colorado Springs? o.O
There are at least 2 anime-only stores (that I remember). 1 in Citadel Mall, and the other (Was) Lucky Neko - but it ma have moved or went under :/
Not to mention places like MediaPlay have a heap of cheap anime. You need to goto Nan Desu Kon, the anime con up in Denver. There are several others around Colorado as well.

And then the two of you got thrown out for yelling in the middle of class and forever tarnished the good name of anime in the eyes of your professor and fellow students. Good job.
I'm joking.
Oh, and just because some random guy was wearing a shirt with the NERV logo on it doesn't necessarily mean he likes anime. He may have just thought the shirt looked cool. Now, if he was wearing a Fruits Basket shirt or something, it'd be a different story.

Last March I was in a Starbucks in Boston; and there's this guy standing next to me wearing an exact replica of Vash the Stampede's coat and boots. The weird thing was that there wasn't any conventions in town; so that caught me off-guard.

Out here at my school I've seen people mostly wearing Rurouni Kenshin shirts. Although I think I saw one guy wear Faye Valentine.

I've seen lots of dudes with DBZ and RuroKen shirts. I once saw a guy with an Akira shirt and I yelled "Kanedaaaa!" lol

Hey, here's an idea - every time one of us sees a stranger wearing an anime shirt, we should post about it.

Some guy in last semester's class carried one of those Mythwear Fruit Basket Anime bag things, sorry I don't know the name for them, and one day I asked him where he got it. He told me it was a gift from his gf. And I asked him if he was a fan of Fruit Basket and anime, he said he didn't like to watch anime. I guess I'm saying that someone could be wearing an anime shirt yet not have seen that particular series... "it just had a nice pic"

All im saying is that it was surprising to have someone wearing an anime t-shirt I was looking at on the internet all of a sudden waltz into my classroom. Especially in the town that im in. Oh and I don't think he bought it just because it looked cool, as the only place you can get it anymore is online anime retailers. Plus he seemed to know exactly what I was thinking about when I pointed as his shirt.

I've got a ton of anime shirts myself that I wear offen from series like Hellsing, Cowboy Bebop, Noir, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, Gundam W, Rurouni Kenshin, My Hime, Witch Hunter Robin, and Inu Yasha. I've made a bunch of friends by wearing them.

I don't know why but the ending of that anecdote made me laugh. This great thrill of mutual recognition and he just walks out.
