Unfortunately, it seems that they're not going to be including the Japanese audio track.
I'll be keeping an eye out for some kind of limited edition release, but pending that I don't know if I'll get this one or not. I would very much prefer to have the Japanese audio track available. Sadly, from what I've already heard about this one I think it'll probably be the best Atelier game in quite some time. It's really frustrating that TK had to step in and make a mess of things. I know the main concern is the game itself, but they need to realize that fans of these games care about extra content and failing to include such things is nothing short of a slap in the face to a lot of us. |

Im going to buy it either way. We rarely get this kind of stuff here, I dont want to not support it because they didn't give a dual audio track.

Well I'm not sure I can agree with the statement that such games are "rarely" released in the US at this point. NISA has released most of the Atelier games since the PS2 era of games.
Though I do understand the sentiment. I'm still considering buying the US release, I'm just really annoyed by TK's disregard of the game franchise's fan base. I want more of the games to be brought over to the US, but if they're planning to take over publishing from another company, I think they should at least make a reasonable effort to match the production quality of the former US publisher. All I'm seeing here is TK trying to get a piece of a relatively stable franchise without actually wanting to put forth any effort to ensure its continued stability. My plan as of now is to wait a while after the US street date and see how people react to it. Depending on what I see, I may import the Japanese version, or I might buy the US version. Again, I'm just disappointed and frustrated with TK for alienating their potential fans like this. |

According to the official Facebook page the game will have both Japanese and English audio. However, only English text.

Unfortunately this will be the first Gust game I won't be able to buy because of the shift away from dual audio. There's no justifiable reason for it, and I can't support it from a company like Tecmo Koei. They may claim any lack of success as due to too small of a market regardless of the success NISA has had with the series, and it may also be the last Gust game to be released in the west but it's simply not acceptable at this point. Every single game released when Gust had far less money, and were licensing to a niche game company in the US they managed dual audio. Even when the physical media limitations of the DVD eventually forced them to make a poor compromise with Ar Tonelico 2. There is no excuse that TK could use to defend this shift on a game released for PS3, on Blu-Ray, and with such a pedigree of dual audio from a company with far less resources than they.
According to their European twitter they don't really even know themselves what is correct (sorry I don't know how to link to a specific tweet) https://twitter.com/tecmokoeieurope The text says: "TECMO KOEI EUROPE @tecmokoeieurope We have sent your Atelier Ayesha enquiries to our team in Japan to clarify as what we have been told was slightly different. We will verify" Siliconera is reporting there will be no dual audio for US or EU http://www.siliconera.com/2013/01/15/atelier-ayesha-coming-to-u-s-on-march-5-from-tecmo-koei-localized-by-nis-america/ http://www.siliconera.com/2013/01/15/atelier-ayesha-reaches-europe-in-march-has-dual-audio-tracks/ and Houk from NISA which did the English localizations for both versions said there will be no dual audio, and only partial English dub. http://nisamerica.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8633&start=1785#p552884 |

Well, that's not good.
I don't see why they would be confused about their own games options only a couple months before release. I know it's a Japanese game and all, but by being the English publisher you kinda take responsibility for it. Companies that experience communication breakdown between their Japanese and English branches tend to fail. The only Atelier game I've played previously was Totori and I enjoyed it. Not enough to jump on the prequel or sequel (Mimuru?) but this game looks a bit refreshing and I was really leaning toward purchasing it. I dunno, I may purchase this game regardless. But I do feel lied to now. |

So, TK killed off Atelier as soon as they got their dirty hands on it. I'm left speechless with anger and sadness.. RIP Atelier, I'll remember you fondly.
