It's alright. It's basically a filler type story, but very close to what Kenshin is all about, being revenge, regret, and redemption. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's a good way to spend roughly an hour and a half if you really like the franchise. It's a bit depressing as there isn't much comedy in it, though, the story itself was good (especially with the melancholy soundtrack).
If I were to pick a timeline for it, I'd put it after the Kyoto arc. But again, it's not related to the main story anyway, so if your curious, by all means buy it.

Save your money and get the Samurai X / Kenshin Trust & Betrayal OVA instead, that is, if you haven't already.

I bought it and enjoyed it. But I am a big kenshin fan. If you only sort-of like this series, you may want to skip it. It is a filler movie, but still good.

I don't know how much $25 (au) is, but I wouldn't recommend it. Trust and Betrayal and the TV series is all you need. Everything else was lacking depth. But if you're a major Kenshin fan then go for it, you can then at least say you watched the entire collection.

And of course, pick up the original manga too while you're at it.

I concur. This is currently one of the best anime sets to get. I don't know how good the dvd you've thought about getting is, but it's nothing compared to the Trust & Betrayal OVA.

This was the first Kenshin Movie I ever saw and back then I liked it. Before that I had only seen the show on Cartoon Network so the violence in it made me want to check out the series itself and the other Samurai X movies.
I bought it used for $10 at Amoeba in San Francisco. That was like 3 or 4 years ago, i think.

If you're a fan of the series then get it, it's a pretty good filler story and it's got some great action. I bought it and liked it, and I'm a big fan of Kenshin.
