As a nostalgic fool for all things Lodoss War I'm eagerly awaiting this.

I think it's time for Lodoss to get a reboot, it hasn't had a decent anime in 22 years, and even that one had issues.

I dont care for a reboot per se, the original ova is still fantastic, what I would like is a legitimate sequel and not that heroic knight garbage they came out with, I want to see parn and deedlit post ova.

I'd prefer some Pirotess looking more like Aura from Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari or Miria from Elf Hime Nina, without the voluptuous body. It would also be fun to see otaking flip due to the lack of his precious shading.
There's the Crystania OVA and film to act as some supplementary material, but they're not good unless you like occasionally seeing a dark elf. The good possibly outcome of a reboot is able to learn from any mistakes the original OVA had, like terrible animation after the first episode. Of course this almost never happens, but swords and sorcery anime not inspired by JRPGs is sorely lacking in modern seasons. |

Oh, wow. That little promo... was beautiful! It's been years since I saw the original OVA all. Media Blasters originally had plans to release it, but those got canned pretty recently due to their financial issues, didn't they?
Man, I hope this online game is the start of something bigger, leading into a reboot one day and such. Hey, maybe even a movie; that way creatures like the dragon (or dragons? I know there was definitely at least one) shouldn't have as much as a likelihood of being weird-looking CG.
It'd be kinda cool, I guess, but doing a quick (safe-search!) googling of Deedlit... man, she's still got a beautiful design. Would probably prefer some something at least a tad closer to the OVA than her current almost-plain look (but hey, still a beau!). The trailer seemed to render Ashram pretty nicely, too. |

When I watched the Lodoss War clip, the color setting of Pan and Deedrit on horse looks the same as the OVA opening.
Anyway, they could use new designs for existing characters. Yutaka Izubuchi's design is getting old and I prefer realistic armor and cloth designs like Record of Lodoss War: Lady(Maiden) of Pharis manga by Akihiro Yamada. Despite fabulous ornate details in Ashram's armor, it looks ridiculously bulky and restricting. On Elfin look, Deedrit & Pirotese ear shape looks like donkey/rabbit ear. That ear design seems to plague just about all elf characters in anime. Sora from Escaflowne movie had the most convincing elfin ear and they don't stick out like sideway antenna. |
