well reviews on ann or other major sites but it will not stop others from doing one. I could but hands are full at the moment with other things. |

No gun porn or excessive spec detail, in a series about an arms dealer and her crew? Dropped. Dropped to the Future, No Country for Dropped Shows, Dropped in the Water. Dropped forever. |

For those interested in Nyarko-san, Jason Thompson (who writes House of a 1000 manga for ANN) has started a series of articles on crunchyroll where he talks about the various cthulhu mythos references in the show.
Before you follow these links, please note that they contain references and screenshots from the ONA, which reveal things that you won't yet know if you've only seen the first episode of the latest tv series. They all relate to the fire-themed girl, and I don't think knowing them would really lesson your enjoyment of the new series, but if you absolutely want to avoid all spoilers, avoid clicking these links until after the nature of the relationship between Nyarko and fire-girl are revealed. First article. Second one. |

Hey Zac, Long time listener to ANNCast, I actually dug out my password just to post this.
The recording you made for Mysterious Girl Friend X absolutely made my day. I haven't laugh this hard for a long time. Having some familiarity with the source material, I can say this is really something that requires quite a bit of tolerance for weird fetishes. Although personally, the hook wasn't what made the manga interesting for me. For a time at least, there seen to be a point to all of the antic and hard-to-get-ness of Urabe. I thought the author was trying to say something about the mechanics of courtship and the nature of intimacy, although ultimately it didn't led to anything. I lost track of this comic after bit, it was a bit surprising that an anime came out for it. |

Heh, how did I know Mistress Dongs would give Upotte!! a high mark? She has some points about the detailed aspects of the guns, but man I just can't get passed the creepy in-shadow-faced teacher.

Checked out Jormungand, which is not part of the preview guide. Liked it. Has a very Black Lagoon vibe, right from the OP. I notice that Funi has the streaming rights for season 1 & 2, so this will eventually be more than a single cours show. Not surprised Funi snapped this one up.

4 points are all I can make tonight, this cold has been killing me all day.
1) I'm glad to see everyone is calming the heck down. We can disagree like sane people. My thanks to Key and other moderators. 2) @nottimkai: thank you for the play-by-play of your reactions. It's good to know how another Lovecraft fan saw the series. I've got nothing against a straight-up parody of Lovecraft - I've enjoyed them in the past - but this sounds like whacky romcom with Lovecraft dressing. Maybe it will develop further? I'll check out the essays Mad_Scientist linked to. Edit: Those links seem to be broken. 3) Does anyone know Funimation's time schedule for releasing the shows it's licensed for simulcast this season? Have they posted it anywhere? 4) IMnsHO, teenagers spit-swapping (however unnaturally) = less a disturbing sign of the direction anime is headed then middle school girls getting their "triggers" fingered and "butts" handled. Wait, that last one doesn't even work as a double-entendre. |

Well, either of those are better than my plan to attract a mate by strapping powerful magnets to myself and promoting a miracle diet for women that involved eating massive amounts of iron filings. Still, that lady cop who tasered me in the crotch is still the closest I've ever come to love.
I can't decide if, "Mistress Dongs," is just weird, or weirdly, but awkwardly affectionate. My thoughts on Upotte!! have always been dominated by, "whaaaaaaa?" with the creepiness just being a flavor enhancer for that. It's the sort of thing that's worth gawking at in disbelief once, but not touching again. Man, what happens if he has to field strip and clean his weapons? It's baffling as to why you expect people to take your posts with any level of respect when you're intentionally being disrespectful to a reviewer by misspelling her name. Stop being a dragondick. |

I'll focus on a different point of your post... a 3 is a high mark?? Anyways, wait for The Stream to find out what she really thinks... I predict that it might make two columns before getting dropped. |
