I think he would be amused since Lovecraft took some japanese mythos and gave them a completley different form and now the japanese take his mythos and make them moe. Besides, I think this is more interesting than mixing it with lolis and mechas |

It's pretty fun to see Nyarlothotep take the form of a cute silver haired girl in Japan. Easy to see a cult form around and follow her.

No. He wouldn't. Mr. Lovecraft would be, by modern standards, considered rather racist. Anything that hadn't assimilated in to western culture would have been considered inferior. The only kind of mythos vaguely incorporated into his stories came from ancient Greece, though he often insisted that all of his works be considered Science Fiction. His influences were other science fiction and horror writers, from the gothic period like Poe and Dunsany onward to Irwin S. Cobb, H.G Wells and Edgar Rice Burroughs, and contemporaries like Robert E. Howard and Robert Bloch (who were also his friends). I have to agree with enurtsol here. Poor Mr. Lovecraft is probably spinning in his grave. |
