The other day I was watching MTV with my gf, personally i hate MTV, and we saw the FEEL GOOD INC. Video as well as the DARE video and my gf said that if I could show her an anime that looked like that shed be interested in watching. Does anyone know what studio creates their videos or did they start their own studio just to make their own videos?

The animes that popped up in my head immediatly were VOICES OF A DISTANT STAR and THE PLACE PROMISED IN OUR EARLY DAYS. But then I remembered she hates tragedies she was so pissed at the end of GRAVE OF THE FIREFLYS she said shed never watch another anime with me. We did see SPIRITED AWAY and she loved it but anyway .... So I ask if anyone knows an anime that looks as clean as the Gorillaz music videos.

Well the Gorillaz vidoes are made by the same people who wrote the classic comic book Tank Girl which was made into an awesome movie. So you'd do better by showing those to her even though they sadly hjave nothing to do with anime. I honestly can't think of any anime for you, I'm just posting this to sound smart.....

On the other hand, although that's neither here nor anywhere, really, if you look around the first Gorillaz DVD, one of the links on the computer in Noodle's room is nausicaa.net. Which, of course, should come as a surprise to exactly no-one.

Yeah. Maybe instead of showing her anime that looks like the Gorillaz music videos, because there are none, maybe you can show her stuff that influences the Gorillaz.

There are several bands that have done anime-style videos. I'm thinking in particular about the Linkin Park video for Breaking the Habit. I think that video was actually directed by one of the band members, but I don't know what animation studio they got to do it. I doubt it was a Japanese studio, though.

Also, the Tank Girl movie has some animation in it. Although, as philg said, it has nothing to do with anime.

The creator of Tank Girl created, illustrated, and does the character designs for The Gorillaz, but I think the animation actually falls on someone else's shoulders. I've heard rumors that Studio Ghibli actually helped animate the Dare and Feel Good Inc. music videos, but I highly doubt that. Perhaps it was another Japanese studio.

With all of the crazy island in the air action that was going on in Feel Good Inc., I would beleive that Studio Ghibli would have had a hand in the creation or at least in the inspiration of it. I remember an interview with Miyazaki somewhere that he really loved airial action, and that his characters usually have something to do with flying ie: Howl's Flying Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausiicaa and the Valley of the Wind, Porco Rosso, Spirited Away. The only one that I can think of without any sort of flying action would be Princess Mononoke.

(edit) I checked out the unnofficial site. Ghibli isn't listed as actually helping, but, "The flying windmill island is heavily inspired by Miyazaki's 'Castle In the Sky' which Jamie has cited as one of his main influences in interviews." So it's just influence. :)
