This duplicate has been brought up before here by Devil Doll, and I believe I have enough evidence to purge one for the other. Although Yasuhiko is currently the predominant entry, there seems to be much more firm evidence in favor of Abiko. If anyone has anything extra to add in terms of confirmation, feel free. I will wait at least a week or so before processing this one.
For Abiko: * Anime@wiki - 安彦英二 (あびこえいじ) Doesn't have a question mark as some animators with uncertain names on the page are indicated. * 安彦英二 (oapiko) on Twitter - While I couldn't seem to find anything in his tweets on the reading of his name, his handle would seem to favor "Abiko" over "Yasuhiko". * The World God Only Knows episode 12 - There is a parody screenshot in the episode which appears to contain romanized names of some actual staff people, and it's "Abiko" there (first several names are here for anyone interested). For Yasuhiko: * Movie.goo.ne.jp - 安彦英二 (ヤスヒコエイジ) Seems kind of flimsy since it only has his work for Tree of Palme listed. With people like this who have their own twitter account, I wonder if it would be all right to tweet them a question on the reading of their name.
I don't know how to speak Japanese, but a simple '安彦= あびこ or やすひこ ?" can't be too offensive, right? Seems likely that it's the former reading here in any case, but I'd like to do the twitter thing for this guy. Also, program guide for a film festival (13 MB) + another film festival listing= Eiji Abiko. I'll move my credits later on. |

You mean asking for his reading? I think he's undoubtedly "Kouichi Motomura". I have seen some official Japanese artwork credit him with that romanization, and it doesn't seem the particular kanji are known to be ambiguous for names (most Japanese people with Wikipedia entries use those readings, with only an isolated "Honmura" and "Akikazu"). As far as Abiko is concerned, it looks like Sakuga@Wiki says something about him:
Seems like it's saying his name is "Abiko" too. |

[on completely different note, Crunchyroll's 720p stream is so inconsistent. I couldn't get it to work at all last Friday, but it's working just fine now. I guess nobody's watching any anime on a Tuesday night, so their servers can handle it. >.>] |

All credits have been added to Eiji Abiko, and the Eiji Yasuhiko entry has been purged.
