“The Ninja Diaries” is, essentially, a romantic action-comedy that tells the story of a seemingly lost ninja-turned-LA-actor and the free-spirited female ninja who ventures to Los Angeles to bring him back to his clan. Of course things take an unexpected turn and the mismatched couple find themselves on the run amid the textured and colorful world of LA nightlife.
Written by LA-based Nunzio Defilippis and Christina Weir, a writing team who have worked in television, film, video games and comics, “The Ninja Diaries” is just one of many high action content series that the pair has created. They spent two seasons on the staff of HBO's “Arli$$” and contributed stories for Disney's “Kim Possible.” They also worked extensively for superhero comics Marvel and DC, such as “New X-Men,” “Hellions,” “Adventures of Superman” and “Checkmate.” In the field of manga, the team has adapted numerous series from Del Rey, and created two original English-language manga series for Seven Seas Entertainment, “Amazing Agent Luna” and “Destiny's Hand.”
“The Ninja Diaries'” vivid and bold artwork is illustrated by Elmer Damaso. A self-taught artist, Damaso is now a professional comic book designer and has drawn “Speed Racer,” “10 Beautiful Assassins” among other projects for Seven Seas Entertainment. In addition to his work for Seven Seas, Elmer also provides spot illustrations for K-Zone Philippines, K-Zone Australia, K-Zone International and concept designs for various companies locally and abroad.
