GDH Announces GONZO Rosso's Global Strategy
Japan-made original MMORPGs to be provided worldwide
2007.08.07
GDH K.K. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Shinichirō Ishikawa, Securities Code: TSE Mothers 3755, hereafter GDH) has announced that GONZO ROSSO K.K. (Head office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Managing Director: Hideki Moriya, hereafter GONZO Rosso), an online game operation company within the GDH Group, will be providing Japan-made online games in Asia, and eventually in other regions as well, through GONZO Rosso's two subsidiary companies GONZO ROSSO (M) Sdn Bhd (Head Office: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, CEO: Chin Chee Seong, hereafter Gonzo Rosso Malaysia) and GoldSky Access International, Inc. (Head Office: Labuan, Malaysia, CEO: Huang Chi Cheng, hereafter GoldSky).
GONZO Rosso has been enhancing its foothold in the Asian game industries through the establishment of Gonzo Rosso Malaysia and the acquisition of GoldSky. Gonzo Rosso Malaysia is an online game publisher for Malaysian and Singaporean markets, established in February 2007. GoldSky is a company which licenses the Korean MMORPG RAN Online to Asian territories and possesses vast expertise in the online game licensing business including localization/culturalization of in-game items and events. Leveraging on this foundation, GONZO Rosso plans to launch in the Asian region, services of high-quality Japan-made online games such as Pandora Saga, its first original MMORPG. These two titles are scheduled for launch later this year in Japan, and will be released in other Asian territories such as China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam, and will then be taken to a wider global market including Europe and the US.
GONZO Rosso has been engaged in the acquisition of Korean and other overseas online games to provide their services in Japan. With these new efforts in the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets, GONZO Rosso aims to extend its field of business to the development of high-quality Japanese MMORPGs that have global appeal. Meanwhile, GDH as a group has entered the online game business via GONZO Rosso and has been actively promoting online games in the domestic market. It will optimize the use of content funds operated by GDH Capital, another member of the GDH Group, to further encourage development of large-scale online games, hence maximizing the group's corporate capacity to fortify its content business, leveraging the synergy of animation and games both domestically and internationally.
