Japan-A-Radio to Produce 'Unwound'
MiS PRODUCTIONS TO PRODUCE ‘UNWOUND’
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 7, 2005) – MiS Productions and its subsidiary, Japan-A-Radio, announced this morning that it will be assuming all production and distribution duties of the popular anime review radio program UNWOUND, effective immediately. The show's previous production company, San Francisco-based Project 760 Productions, citing rising costs, cancelled the program from its production schedule yesterday. Under the terms of the release, Project 760 Productions also released full ownership rights to the show's segment producer and co-host, Michael Garcia.
An agreement to undertake production responsibilities was reached between Garcia and MiS Productions late yesterday. Shon Elliott, President of MiS Productions said he “would like to see the show continue, and I will do whatever it takes to see that it happens.” Due to Japan-A-Radio's commitment to bringing Japanese music and related programming to its listeners, he went on to say, “Over the last three years, I've seen a lot of stations and programs come and go as they try to reach out to the Internet audience. I am committed to keeping UNWOUND on Japan-A-Radio's program schedule." Garcia added, “The relationship we've built with MiS and Japan-A-Radio has allowed us to make this an easy transition. Jesse [Barredo] and I would like to thank Project 760 for all its support in the past, and we're looking forward to a bright future with Mr. Shon Elliott and MiS Productions.” Elliott has been named as Executive Producer of UNWOUND, and Garcia will continue to operate as segment producer and co-host.
UNWOUND is a weekly one hour radio program, and broadcast its first episode on June 26th on Japan-A-Radio. Featuring co-hosts Jesse Barredo and Michael Garcia, the show reviews Japanese animation and related news items, as well as providing domestic DVD release information. Future episodes will include an interview with Anime News Network's Senior Editor Jonathan Mays, returning guests Egan Loo and Patrick Macias, as well as on-location broadcasts at anime conventions such as SakuraCon, Fanime, and Anime Expo. The second season began broadcasting its first episode on February 6, 2005. MiS has ordered twenty-five episodes, and will continue to broadcast episodes Sunday night at 7:00pm Pacific Time.
