Ani-One Asia Licenses Takopi's Original Sin, Kowloon Generic Romance, Rock is a Lady's Modesty

The anime adaptation of Taizan 5's Takopi's Original Sin (Takopii no Genzai) manga will premiere this year. Ani-One Asia describes the anime:
Takopi, an alien who traveled from Happy Planet to spread happiness to others across the universe. After coming to Earth, he comes across Shizuka, who saved him from a pinch. To bring back Shizuka's smile, Takopi decided to use his magical Happy Gadgets to solve Shizuka's problems. But it seems that Shizuka is hiding troubles at home and school... This is the happiest story of you and me.
The anime will star Kurumi Mamiya as Takopi, Reina Ueda as Shizuka Kuze, Konomi Kohara as Marina, and Anna Nagase as Azuma.
Shinya Iino (director for Dr. Stone, Dr. Stone: Stone Wars) is directing the anime and overseeing the series scripts. Keita Nagahara (key animator for Violet Evergarden, Sound! Euphonium, Sonny Boy) is the character designer. ENISHIYA is producing the work.
Taizan 5 debuted the manga in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ in December 2021, and ended it in March 2022. Shueisha published the second and final compiled book volume in April 2022. The manga is also available in English on Shueisha's MANGA Plus.
The manga was nominated for the 16th Manga Taisho Awards and the 27th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes in 2023. The series received the Manga Kingdom Tottori award at the 51st Japan Cartoonists Association Awards in 2022. The manga ranked at #3 in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook's top 20 manga for male readers list in 2022.

Reiko Kujirai, working in the nostalgic streets of "Kowloon Walled City," finds herself drawn to her senior colleague Hajime Kudou. One day, she discovers through a photograph that Kudou had a fiancée who looked exactly like her, leading Reiko to realize she has no memories of her past. In this mysterious city, as past and present intertwine, an unstoppable love begins to uncover hidden secrets.
Haruka Shiraishi plays Kowloon-based real estate agent Reiko Kujirai in the anime, while Tomokazu Sugita plays her colleague Hajime Kudō.
Yoshiaki Iwasaki (Love Hina, We Never Learn: BOKUBEN) is directing the anime at Arvo Animation. Jin Tanaka (Oshi no Ko) is writing the script. Yuka Shibata (Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You) is designing the characters. Yūji Kaneko (Kill la Kill) is the art director.
The group Wednesday Campanella performs the opening theme song "Summertime Ghost," and singer-songwriter mekakushe performs the ending theme song "Koi no Retronym" (A Retronym for Love).
The manga is also inspiring a live-action film that will open this summer. Riho Yoshioka (Blind, Anime Supremacy!) plays Reiko Kujirai in the live-action film, while Kōshi Mizukami (Nina, My Love) plays Hajima Kudō.

Shogo Yasukawa (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, A Certain Scientific Railgun T) is in charge of series scripts, Risa Miyadani (Aikatsu! Planet, Wonderful Precure! The Movie!) is designing the characters, and Yasufumi Soejima (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) is the visual director.

Chihiro Kumano (episode director for A Couple of Cuckoos, Moriarty the Patriot) is directing the anime at 100Studio. Atsushi Oka (Hensuki, Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez scripts) is supervising and writing the series scripts. Masahiko Suzuki (Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs) is designing the characters. Toshiki Kameyama is the sound director, and Keiichi Hirokawa and Ryūichi Takada from MONACA are composing the music.
HoneyWorks feat. KAF performs the opening theme song "She Is Now in the Labyrinth." Composer Shunryū's music project Sizuk performs the ending theme song "Kimi no Shiranai Koto" (What You Don't Know).

After ending their "mutually beneficial relationship", Kobato and Osanai move on separately. The new season will adapt the Shuki Gentei Kuri Kinton Jiken (The Case of the Autumn-time Limited-Edition Candied Chestnuts and Sweet Potatoes) and Tōki Gentei Bonbon Chocolat Jiken (The Case of the Wintertime Limited-Edition Chocolate Bonbons) novels.
New cast for the season will include Teppei Uenishi as Takahiko Urino, Yume Miyamoto as Tokiko Nakamaru, and Seiichirō Yamashita as Yūto Hiya.
The first season premiered in July 2024. Ani-One Asia streamed the anime as it airedi n Japan.
The anime adapted the Shunki Gentei Ichigo Tart Jiken (The Case of the Springtime Limited-Edition Strawberry Tart) and Kaki Gentei Tropical Parfait Jiken (The Case of the Summertime Limited-Edition Tropical Parfait) novels in Yonezawa's (Kotenbu series, Black Dungeon Castle) series.
