Bangalore Anime Club Hosts Special Suzume Screening with Discounted Tickets, Cosplay Contest, More Events

Screening on April 23 also features Shinkai art exhibition, lucky draw to win autographed posters, 'custom fan tickets' featuring the film's artwork, concession stand food at discounted prices

The Bangalore Anime Club announced on Facebook on Monday that it will host a special screening event for Makoto Shinkai's Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari) film on April 23 at PVR Vaishnavi Sapphire Mall at 12:30 p.m. IST. The event will feature a special discounted price on tickets.

The event will feature a cosplay contest, a Shinkai art exhibition, and a lucky draw to win autographed posters. It will also have "custom fan tickets" featuring the film's artwork, and will offer attendees concession stand food at discounted prices.

The screening will begin at 1:45 p.m. IST.

Tickets for the event are on sale and registrations for the cosplay contest are open on Bangalore Anime Club's Linktree page.

The film opened in Indian theaters in Hindi and in Japanese with English subtitles on Friday. PVR Inox hosted early preview screenings of the film in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, and Bangalore on April 9. It hosted a second round of early fan screenings for the film in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata on April 16.

PVR Inox hosted a meet and greet with Makoto Shinkai in Mumbai on Wednesday preceding the film's premiere. The company gave away signed copies of the film's novel to select attendees at the event. Shinkai also attended the premiere event itself and participated in a Q&A session with attendees on April 20.

Denki Amashima, the artist of the manga adaptation of Makoto Shinkai's Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari) film, will speak in a "Manga Talk Session" at Rachna Sansad College of Applied Art & Craft.

The film opened in Japan at #1 on November 11 and sold 1.33 million tickets to earn 1.88 billion yen (about US$13.49 million) in its first three days.
