Anime Expo to Host Live-Action Fullmetal Alchemist Film's Director, Lead Actor

Convention's 1st live-action movie panel will reveal new footage from December 1 film

Los Angeles anime convention Anime Expo announced on Wednesday that it will host live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film director Fumihiko Sori and lead actor Ryōsuke Yamada (Edward Elric in the film) as guests. The pair will present the convention's first-ever live-action movie panel, where they will reveal new footage for the film.

Anime Expo will be the first stop on a promotional tour for the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film. The next stop on the tour is Paris' Japan Expo on July 7, with Sori and lead actress Tsubasa Honda (Winry Rockbell in the film) attending. The crew will then head back to Japan to participate in the "Hagaren Fan Event" on July 12, coinciding with the anniversary of the manga's serialization, where they will again reveal new footage and the film's character visuals, as well as a "surprise" announcement. The actors from the film, as well as anime voice actresses Romi Park (Edward Elric) and Rie Kugimiya (Alphonse Elric) will be in attendance.

The film will open in Japan on December 1.

This year's Anime Expo convention will run from July 1 to July 4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. In addition, the convention will formally include a preview night a day before on June 30.

Other guests include Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? light novel series author Fujino Ōmori, Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma manga co-creator Yūto Tsukuda, Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, and designer and artist Kimihiko Fujisaka. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross singer and voice actress Mari Iijima will return to the convention this year. Akira Himekawa, the manga creator duo known for their manga adaptations of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda games, are also attending the convention. Musicians ☆Taku Takahashi, Teddyloid, and Pa's Lam System will perform at the convention's Neon District concert this year. Ali Project, Minori Chihara, GARNiDELiA, Konomi Suzuki, angela, Mashiro Ayano, Wake Up, Girls!, Walküre's Minori Suzuki and JUNNA, Love Live! Sunshine!!'s Aquors, and The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls will also perform at Anisong World Matsuri.

The event will host the U.S. Preliminary for the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) during the masquerade on July 2.
