Los Angeles convention runs July 1-4

Los Angeles convention Anime Expo announced on Wednesday that it will host Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma manga co-creator Yūto Tsukuda as a guest. He will participate in a panel and will have autograph sessions.

Tsukuda writes the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma manga, while artist Shun Saeki draws the art. Chef Yuki Morisaki is credited for cooperation for the manga. The manga runs in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Viz Media releases chapters of the manga weekly in English in its English version of the magazine, and also releases the manga's compiled book volumes in English. The manga has 24 compiled book volumes so far (17 of which Viz Media has released in English), and is Tsukuda's first work to be translated to English.

The manga inspired two television anime in 2015 and 2016, which Crunchyroll both streamed as they aired in Japan. Sentai Filmworks licensed both anime for streaming and home video.

This year's Anime Expo convention will run from July 1 to July 4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. In addition, the convention will formally include a preview night a day before on June 30.

Other guests include Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and designer and artist Kimihiko Fujisaka. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross singer and voice actress Mari Iijima will return to the convention this year. Akira Himekawa, the manga creator duo known for their manga adaptations of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda games, is also attending the convention. Musicians ☆Taku Takahashi, Teddyloid, and Pa’s Lam System will perform at the convention's Neon District concert this year. Ali Project, Minori Chihara, GARNiDELiA, Konomi Suzuki, angela, Mashiro Ayano, Wake Up, Girls!, Walküre's Minori Suzuki and JUNNA, Love Live! Sunshine!!'s Aquors, and The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls will also perform at Anisong World Matsuri.

The event will also host the U.S. Preliminary for the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) during the masquerade at on July 2.
