Toriko Manga to Take 1-Month Break After Current Arc Ends
posted on by Egan Loo
Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro's Toriko manga will go on a one-month hiatus after its Human World arc ends in next year's combined 6th/7th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on January 4. The manga will return with the start of the Gourmet World arc in the 10th issue on February 2.
Shimabukuro launched the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2008, and the manga's 27 volumes have more than 18 million copies in circulation as of last month. In the story, Toriko is a "Bishokuya" (gourmet food provider) who travels the world to hunt down the animals and plants needed to make the finest cuisine.
Viz Media serializes the manga in its English-language Weekly Shonen Jump digital magazine, and it shipped the manga's 19th volume in North America this month. Funimation is releasing the television anime adaptation on DVD in North America. Funimation and Hulu are currently streaming new episodes every Wednesday for audiences in the United States, and Crunchyroll also began streaming the series last month.
