Aniplex USA Adds Kill La Kill TV Anime
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Aniplex of America announced at its panel at Otakon on Saturday that it has licensed Hiroyuki Imaishi and Trigger's battle action anime Kill la Kill. The company added it plans to stream the series this fall, and also has plans to release the series on home video. Aniplex of America noted it will provide more details about the home video release at a later date.
Trigger's first original television anime reunites Imaishi (Dead Leaves, Gurren Lagann, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt) with head writer Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann, Nodame Cantabile: Finale, Re: Cutie Honey). In addition, acclaimed animator Sushio (animation director on Gurren Lagann and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, character designer on Engage Planet Kiss Dum) is designing the characters.
The story is set at a high school that the student council president Satsuki Kiryūin rules by force. Ryūko Matoi, a transfer student wielding a giant Basami scissors sword, brings about upheaval on the campus.
The anime will premiere on Japanese television in October.
