Examurai Sengoku G Manga Goes on Hiatus Due to Creator's Health
posted on by Sarah Nelkin
The September issue of Akita Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Champion magazine is announcing on Tuesday that Yoshiji Yamaguchi's Examurai Sengoku Generation manga is going on hiatus due to the author's health. Yamaguchi wrote that he had been hospitalized half a year ago, and apologized that he would be taking another break after just returning to work. He added that he would like to return to drawing Examurai Sengoku Generation after properly watching his health this time.
The magazine's staff also apologized for the sudden hiatus. They wrote that the return date for the manga is still unknown, and that the magazine will announce the date of the manga's return on the cover of the magazine when a date is decided. Yamaguchi began the manga in Monthly Shōnen Champion in 2011.
EXILE band leader Hiroyuki "Hiro" Igarashi produced the original Examurai Sengoku project, which re-imagines the members of the band as samurai with original character designs by manga creator Hiroshi Takahashi (Crows, Worst). The project began as DVD anime shorts that shipped with Exile's albums, and it later inspired a television anime series in 2009. Yamaguchi drew the first Examurai Sengoku manga from 2009 to 2011 in the same Monthly Shōnen Champion magazine.
