Meganebu Anime About Glasses-Wearing Boys to Air in October
posted on by Egan Loo
A website, registered under TOHO's name, opened to announce that the Meganebu! (literally, Eyeglasses Club) television anime will premiere this October.
The anime company Studio DEEN released a series of Meganebu! original drama CDs in 2011 and 2012. The CDs revolved around a group of "ikemegane" (handsome eyeglasses-wearing) high school boys:
Underclassman Mitsuki Kamatani (Takahiro Mizushima)
Classmate Takuma Hachimine (Takashi Kondou)
Classmate Yukiya Minabe (Masakazu Morita)
Underclassman Akito Kimata (Daisuke Namikawa)
Newest member Tetsu Suzuki (Gō Inoue, not pictured)
Atsuko Nakajima (Hakuōki, Ranma ½) designed the characters for the drama CDs, and Chiaki Kon (director on Junjō Romantica, When They Cry - Higurashi, Makai Ōji: Devils and Realist) wrote the scenarios. (The drama CDs' website and Twitter account are no longer active.)
The Niconico Live service will stream an unveiling of the anime production on July 12 at 7:30 p.m. (6:30 a.m. EDT). (Niconico's page for the event is not viewable outside Japan.) The anime's "Megane-bu" cast will appear at the Niconico Live event.

Update: The Fukui Shimbun paper reported in April on TOHO's October television anime about the adolescence and friendship of high school boys in Sabae City, an area renowned for eyeglasses. Thanks, HosannaExcelsis
