Independent Anime Screening at Newcastle December 12

Double-bill of short films Encounters and Midori-ko.
Newcastle's Star and Shadow Cinema (directions) will screen two independent anime short films on Wednesday December 12 at 7.30 p.m. Encounters (2011), pictured, directed by Takashi Iitsuka, is an Adam and Joe style blockbuster spoof involving a super monster. Midori-ko (2010), directed by Keita Kurosaka, is a hand-drawn "phantasmagoria of mesmerising and disturbing imagery," about scientists trying to create the perfect super food. The double-bill was programmed in partnership with the Zipangu festival.
