Kuroko's Basketball Gets 'Tip Off' Original Video Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
The 41st issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that the eighth Blu-ray Disc/DVD volume of the Kuroko's Basketball (Kuroko no Basuke) anime will include a "Tip Off" original video anime (OVA). The "22.5th episode" will cover the title character Tetsuya Kuroko's past, when he was part of the vaunted "Generation of Miracles" basketball team at Teikō Middle School. Bandai Visual will release the eighth volume in Japan on February 22, 2013.
The eighth Blu-ray/DVD volume will also have the television anime's 21st and 22nd episodes, a special CD with an audio drama and bonus track featuring Riko Aida (Chiwa Saitō), three ending credits illustration cards including one for "Tip Off," and the Kurobas Magazine liner notes.
The anime adapts Tadatoshi Fujimaki's Weekly Shonen Jump manga about Taiga Kagami (played by Yūki Ono), a new Seirin High School student who meets Tetsuya Kuroko (Kenshō Ono) of the school's basketball team. Kuroko happens to be the shadowy sixth member of the legendary "Generation of Miracles" basketball team. Together, Kagami and Kuroko aim to take their team to the inter-high school championship — against Kuroko's former teammates.
Crunchyroll is streaming the television anime into several countries as it airs in Japan.
