Digital Manga Raises Funds for Publishing Tezuka's Unico
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The North American publisher Digital Manga Inc. launched a Kickstarter project on Thursday to localize Osamu Tezuka's Unico manga in English. The publisher's aim is to publish Unico in a single, full-color volume.
The funding goal for the project is US$20,500, and the funding deadline is July 21 at 9:00 p.m. EDT. Those who pledge to provide funding money will receive bonus extras ranging from six free issues of the "Astro Boy Magazine" for a US$5 pledge to a free copy of Unico for a US$35 pledge to a VIP spot on Digital Manga's next trip to Japan for a US$6,500 pledge.
Unico centers on a unicorn who has a power to help those who love him. The titular character travels through time and to different countries to make new friends.
Digital Manga previously funded a release of Tezuka's Barbara manga through Kickstarter in January. It also used Kickstarter to reprint Tezuka's Swallowing the Earth manga last year.
