Manga Confirms Release Dates for Tekken: Blood Vengeance, Fairy Tail, Mardock Scramble (Updated)

Manga UK has confirmed to ANN that three previously announced titles are due for U.K. release in February and March.

The CGI feature film Tekken: Blood Vengeance is due for DVD release on February 6, based on the Tekken fighting videogame series. Digital Frontier produced the film; it was also responsible for the opening movie footage in the Tekken 5 and Tekken 6 games, as well as handling animation production in the Appleseed and Resident Evil: Degeneration films. The director was Yōichi Mōri; Dai Satō (Casshern, Cowboy Bebop, Eureka Seven) wrote the script, and Shinji Higuchi (Evangelion, Gunbuster, Vandread) handled the storyboards.

Fairy Tail volume 1 (pictured left) is due on March 5. It is an ongoing television anime based on Hiro Mashima's manga of the same name, following the adventures of the world's most notorious mage guild, Fairy Tail. A-1 Pictures and Satelight launched the anime in October of 2009.

Finally, the first Mardock Scramble film (pictured right) is scheduled for a DVD/Blu-ray release on March 12. In Mardock Scramble: The First Compression, a teenage prostitute named Rune Balot is caught in an explosion, then turned into an advanced cyborg. Balot takes on the worst of Mardock City's criminals as she looks for vengeance. Megumi Hayashibara voices Rune Balot, in a project directed by Susumu Kudo at the new studio GoHands. Both the film and its sequel, Mardock Scramble: The Second Combustion, were screened at cinemas around the U.K. in November, together with Tekken: Blood Vengeance.
