K-ON! Film Earns 1.1 Billion Yen in 24 Days

The film journalist Hiroo Otaka reported on Monday that the K-ON! film has earned 1,139,230,000 yen (about US$14.6 million) in ticket sales since its December 3 opening.
The Eiga.com website reported last Monday the film sold over 700,000 tickets and earned nearly one billion yen (about US$12.8 million) in its first 16 days. The previous week, the same site revealed that the K-ON! film sold 523,274 tickets and made 691,086,400 yen (about US$8.86 million) in the nine days after its premiere. According to Otaka, the sequel film earned 316,310,000 yen (about US$4,054,000) on 137 screens during its first weekend.
