Vampire Hunter D Manga Comes to comiXology
posted on by Andrew Osmond
Digital Manga, Inc. (DMI) and Comixology have announced that they are digitally releasing the first three volumes of the Vampire Hunter D manga on Comixology's digital comics platform for the iOS, Android and Web.
Launched by DMI in 2007, the manga was adapted by Saiko Takaki from the Vampire Hunter D novels by Hideyuki Kikuchi. Kikuchi's novels were also adapted into two anime feature films (Vampire Hunter D and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust). The franchise combines elements of Western, gothic horror, and science-fiction genres, portraying a far-future world ruled by vampires.
Fred Lui, Vice President of Production of DMI, said, ”We are partnering with Comixology because of the ubiquitous platform that they have built and the amazing reading experience they are able to provide.”
All volumes of Vampire Hunter D will be available on Comixology for US$9.99 each. Currently, 20 pages of the first volume are available for free.
DMI's press release also notes that the company will be releasing more of their titles through Comixology.
The original English language (OEL) manga company EigoMANGA and the now closed North American branch of Tokyopop had both released manga on Comixology in the past.
